Coverage stated they met through a mutual friend about seven years earlier. The relationship ended by December 2022, about a month after they made it public.

Presley Gerber, son of Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber, died at 27 on September 20, 2026, at a rehab facility in Los Angeles County. The cause of death was not listed. Crawford's publicist confirmed the news to CNN and said the family was asking for privacy.

Wood said the beginning felt "funny" because they started as friends, and she added that it took less than a week after their first date for him to ask to move the relationship forward. He captioned his November 1 post "Guys I did it…" over a video of them kissing set to audio about finding the person who made him happiest.
