Where is Ed Henry now? Jennifer Eckhart settled lawsuit against Fox News anchor a year before death

Ed Henry now works as a chief news anchor at Newsmax and hosts Ed Henry: The Briefing on Newsmax2. His LinkedIn profile lists his location as West Palm Beach, Florida.

On September 21, 2026, TMZ reported that Jennifer Eckhart, a former Fox Business associate producer, had died at age 36. She was found dead at her home in Hobe Sound, Florida, on Saturday, September 19, 2026. A spokesperson confirmed to TMZ that the death was ruled a suicide.

According to a Martin County Sheriff’s Office incident report, Eckhart's mother found her dead in the bathtub with a large laceration to the front of her throat and neck and a folding pocketknife next to her right hand.

This also comes after Jennifer Eckhart settled her lawsuit against Ed Henry. Eckhart had worked at Fox for seven years before leaving the network. The sheriff's office did not tie the death to the lawsuit.

In 2020, she filed a civil lawsuit alleging that Henry had violently sexually assaulted her while they both worked there. She also alleged that he took photographs of her for purposes of blackmail that could destroy her career. Ed Henry denied the allegations and maintained that their relationship was consensual.

Fox News fired him in July 2020 after receiving the complaint and conducting an investigation. They stated at the time that it had not received previous sexual harassment complaints against him before Eckhart came forward. The lawsuit also named Fox News as a defendant. Fox News was later dismissed from the case. The remaining claims against Henry were settled in June 2025, about a year before Eckhart's death.

After the settlement, Eckhart spoke to PEOPLE. She said:

"This has been an exhaustive, retraumatizing, five-year legal battle with incredible challenges that at times I almost felt was unable to bear. With this settlement in place, a weight has now been lifted from my shoulders and my passion to support fellow trauma survivors has been renewed."

She also told PEOPLE:

"I turned pain into purpose. I think the overarching theme, as far as this case not going to trial, is that survivors do not require validation from a courtroom to emerge stronger than what tries to break them."

Ed Henry's attorney, Gary Rosen, told PEOPLE at the time of the settlement:

"This matter has been resolved to the mutual satisfaction of the parties, and the parties are moving on with their lives."

Ed Henry's education and professional background

Edward Michael Henry Jr. was born on July 20, 1971, in New York City.

As per his LinkedIn profile, Ed Henry completed his degree in English from Siena College in Loudonville, New York. He started working as an investigative reporter with columnist Jack Anderson, then as a senior editor and columnist at Roll Call. He started working as a congressional correspondent at CNN in 2004 and later served as a White House correspondent and senior White House correspondent.

He started working at Fox News in 2011 as chief White House correspondent and later co-hosted America's Newsroom with Sandra Smith, remaining there until Fox News terminated his employment on July 1, 2020.

His LinkedIn profile still lists Fox News Channel among his affiliations. After leaving Fox, he co-hosted American Sunrise on Real America's Voice before joining Newsmax.

As of September 2026, he works as a chief news anchor at Newsmax and hosts Ed Henry: The Briefing on Newsmax2.

He married CNN senior producer Shirley Hung in June 2010. They have two children and later divorced. His Instagram account is private. In 2021, he sued Fox News for defamation, and that suit was dismissed in 2022.

Ed Henry and Jennifer Eckhart legal battle

Jennifer Eckhart's 2020 lawsuit, filed in the Southern District of New York, alleged that Henry groomed her beginning when she was 24. She alleged that she was violently raped while helpless and restrained in metal handcuffs. She also alleged Fox News failed to protect her. Henry denied raping her. A federal judge dismissed Fox News as a defendant in March 2025.

Jennifer Eckhart settled the remaining claims against Henry on June 15, 2025, shortly before a civil trial was scheduled to begin, according to court documents PEOPLE obtained. Judgment was later entered in favor of Fox News on the claims against the network.

Eckhart founded The Reinvented Project, a nonprofit using animal-assisted therapy for trauma survivors. She also hosted the podcast REINVENTED with Jen Eckhart. In July 2025, Eckhart was arrested in Palm Beach County and accused of attacking her then-boyfriend Thomas Beasley. The assault charge was later dropped.

Fox News was dismissed from the case in March 2025, when a federal judge granted the network summary judgment. Eckhart appealed. On April 24, 2026, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit affirmed that dismissal.
