In September 2025, Chevy Chase sat down on the Rise Above with Kevin Lanning podcast where he reflected on his growing up. He grew up in Woodstock and was there till he was around seven. About schooling, he said:

“I went to Dalton School in New York up to the eighth grade. Then I went to Riverdale in the ninth grade. I was kicked out and I can't remember why. Oh, yes I can. I'm not going to tell. But I went from there to Stockford School up in Massachusetts which was really for unwed mothers or I don't know what it was but it was for boys like me and girls who needed to get away really.”

Lanning asked if he got into trouble a lot, but Chevy Chase said he couldn’t remember much of it. However, he said it could be because of poor grades at Riverdale. He said:

“I did what boys do. I don't know. I was normal except if you didn't talk to the headmasters, they'd say he's not normal.”

When asked if he was always a class clown, the actor said no. He added that although he wasn’t the class clown, there were others.
