The 31st annual Critics' Choice Awards is on the horizon.

The awards season's first major ceremony is scheduled for one day after the Palm Springs International Film Festival, and it pays homage to some of the biggest strides in the film, television, and streaming industries.

Actor-comedian Chelsea Handler will be hosting this year's show, and the nominations for both film and television have already been announced. Scroll down to know everything about the forthcoming event.


Everything you need to know about this year's Critics' Choice Awards:

The Critics' Choice Awards are scheduled for Sunday, January 4, and the Critics' Choice Association announced their complete list of presenters for the same on December 31.

This includes Ali Larter, Alicia Silverstone, Allison Janney, Arden Cho, Ava DuVernay, Bradley Whitford, Billy Bob Thornton, Diego Luna, EJAE, Hannah Einbinder, Jeff Goldblum, Jessica Williams, Justin Hartley, Justin Sylvester, Kaley Cuoco, Kate Hudson, Keltie Knight, Marcello Hernández, McKenna Grace, Michelle Randolph, Noah Schnapp, Owen Cooper, Quinta Brunson, Regina Hall, Rhea Seehorn, Sebastian Maniscalco, and William H. Macy.

Sinners, starring Michael B. Jordan and Hailee Steinfeld, is leading among contenders with 17 nominations, which include Best Picture. The Wakanda actor, as well as Wunmi Mosaku and Miles Caton, have been honored with nominations for Best Actor, Best Supporting Actress, and Best Young Actor/Actress, respectively.

Ryan Coogler, the director, has been nominated for Best Director and Best Original Screenplay, while the film also landed recognitions for Best Casting and Ensemble, Best Cinematography, Best Production Design, Best Editing, Best Costume Design, Best Hair and Makeup, Best Visual Effects, Best Stunt Design, Best Song, Best Score, and Best Sound.

One Battle After Another follows suit with 14 nominations. As for television, Netflix's Adolescence has raked in six recognitions, including Best Limited Series. Actor and director Stephen Graham has been recognized with the Best Actor in a Limited Series or Movie Made for Television nomination.

Owen Cooper and Ashley Walters have been nominated for Best Supporting Actor. Erin Doherty and Christine Tremarco have also earned nominations in the same category: Best Supporting Actress. Kirstin Bell and Adam Brody's Nobody Wants This follows closely behind with five nominations.

This year, four new categories will make their debut at the Critics' Choice Awards: Best Sound, Best Variety Series, Best Stunt Design, and Best Casting and Ensemble.

The Critics' Choice Awards, which will be hosted at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California, will be broadcast from 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT to 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT on both E! and USA networks. Those interested can also opt for watching it live on the USA, E!, Syfy, and Oxygen apps.
