Angelo Pagán has made headlines recently, after his ex-wife, Leah Remini, penned a heartfelt birthday tribute to him on Instagram. The fifty-five-year-old actress posted a new photo that included Pagán on May 26, celebrating his fifty-eighth birthday with a warm message about the nature of chosen family. Remini wrote,

"In a world where so much feels curated and performative, I have come to appreciate the rare beauty of families that change shape, but never lose the love that is real. Some may not understand it. But I am incredibly proud of the family we built — and even more proud of the family we chose to remain. Happy birthday [Angelo]."

Pagán playfully fired back, quoting Al Pacino in The Godfather Part III, writing,

"Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in! You best believe I'm Michael Corleone in this movie!"

As per Angelo Pagán's IMDb profile, he is an producer and actor, known for Bosch: Legacy (2022), Swordfish (2001) and 24 (2001). The former couple were married for twenty-one years before divorcing in 2024. Remini and Pagán share a daughter, Sofia Bella Pagán, who is currently twenty-one years old, and he has three older sons from a previous relationship, Angelo Jr., Alex and Nico.

As per a report shared by People, both Pagán and Remini share roots in New York City. Angelo Pagán grew up in the Bronx, one of five siblings, and has long been a supporter of the New York Knicks.

Angelo Pagán's acting career took shape through the eighties and nineties, with a string of smaller parts in TV series and films. Meeting Remini brought more screen time his way. He featured in The King of Queens, Kevin Can Wait, Fired Up and In the Motherhood, and turned up as a guest in Martial Law, Dharma & Greg and Shameless.

In 2011, the couple sat down together for The Early Show, and Angelo Pagán was upfront about the questions his casting had raised. He joked that viewers likely assumed he landed his King of Queens role because he was

"sleeping with the lead."

He was clear that he had gone through the audition process like anyone else, and equally candid about his limitations on a comedy set.

"Ask my wife — I'm not funny," he said.

To which Remini replied with,

"He's not the funny one. No. He's the looks of the two."

Viewers also got a closer look at the couple's family dynamic through Leah Remini: It's All Relative, their TLC reality show that premiered in 2014. TLC wrapped it after two seasons in 2015. Remini had spoken to People ahead of the launch about what she hoped the show would convey.

"My family is not so different from the rest of America," she said.
"I think people love to see that, oh, just because she's on television and in Hollywood, I can still relate to her," she added.

Leah Remini explains why she and Angelo Pagán called it quits:

Back in August 2024, Leah Remini took to Instagram to announce her divorce from Angelo Pagán. The post went live on August 29, and Remini laid out the details openly. The couple had tied the knot in 2003.

"Well, here we are. After 28 years together and 21 years of marriage, we have decided to file for divorce. This decision came after a lot of thought and care, and as hard as divorce is, we are approaching this with a positive outlook because we know it's what's best for us," Remini shared.

She said she and Angelo Pagán were "sad" but "proud of how we worked through this together," noting there was still

"figuring out to do as we continue to move forward into our new normal."

That being said, Remini was clear that their friendship had not wavered.

"But here's the thing: we've been best friends for so many years. We are still celebrating holidays together, watching our favorite tv shows together, and gathering as a family," she continued.

Remini also touched on why the couple chose to end the marriage. She said they "both changed, as people do" and had grown accustomed to

"playing roles that didn't fit us anymore."

After considerable effort and reflection, she described the decision as one that reflected "who we are today."

"Our bond is still strong — it's just evolved into something different. We think a marriage that lasted this long and created so many beautiful memories, especially raising our incredible daughter, is something to celebrate," she said.
"From our perspective, this marriage was a huge success," she added.

The decision to speak openly about the split was also addressed. She pointed to how public the couple had previously been about their relationship, citing appearances on VH1 specials and their reality show, Leah Remini: It's All Relative, which ran on TLC for two seasons from 2014 to 2015.

"We are sharing this unknown territory with you all as we take our first steps into this next stage of our lives publicly," she said.
"We would love for everyone to have more access to different kinds of relationship stories and not feel so isolated in navigating the changes that millions of couples make every year. We hope our journey can inspire others to see that relationships — whether they change or end — aren't failures," she continued.
"We'll keep sharing snippets of our lives as we navigate this new chapter," she added.
