Anna Faris, the Scary Movie actress who has been largely absent from the big screen in recent years, has made multiple headlines recently, as she is set to return to the franchise that made her a household name. The actress, who is now forty-nine years old, is married to cinematographer Michael Barrett. As per a report shared by Closer, the couple tied the knot during the pandemic.

That being said, Faris is no stranger to love. She has been married three times in total, first to actor Ben Indra from 2004 to 2008, then to actor Chris Pratt from 2009 to 2018, and finally to Barrett in 2021. Her return to the big screen comes on the heels of a devastating personal loss.

As per a report shared by Entertainment Weekly, the home Anna Faris shared with Barrett and her son Jack, whom she had with ex Chris Pratt, burned down in the Palisades Fire. A month after that, Anna Faris got the call from Marlon Wayans about the new Scary Movie. Faris opened up to Entertainment Weekly about where her headspace was before that call came,

"I had been coming around to the idea of Hollywood sort of putting me out to pasture. And that was okay."

With her comeback now firmly in motion, fans are once again curious about her personal life and her husband, Michael Barrett.

Anna Faris announced her marriage to Michael Barrett in July 2021, though not in the way most would expect. The House Bunny actress let the news slip during a conversation with a caller on her podcast, Anna Faris is Unqualified.

"I'm looking around...my fiancé's right — he's now my husband. Yes, we eloped. It was awesome, yeah, it was great," she shared.

In the same episode, Faris also revealed that even her own family had been kept in the dark. It wasn't a planned announcement there either. Her aunt had asked about her becoming a stepmom, a situation which led to the news coming out rather casually,

"Actually, I am a stepmom as of like four days ago."

As per a report shared by Closer, the couple married on San Juan Island in Washington. The two had first crossed paths on the set of Overboard, which began filming in 2017. Barrett, who is fifty-six years old, has built a solid career behind the camera. His cinematography credits include A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas, Ted and Ted 2. Beyond the lens, he also stepped into directing with Temple in 2017 and took on a producer role for the Canadian film Night Hunter in 2018.

Anna Faris opens up about finding her person in Michael Barrett and what makes their relationship work:

Michael Barrett, a California native, studied film at Columbia University before going on to work as director of photography on over thirty episodes of CSI from 2001 to 2004. Anna Faris opened up to People in May 2021 about what drew her to Barrett so naturally,

"We had an immediate kind of intimacy. We're both probably introverts in a very similar way. And he has two children and that has been awesome. I've really learned a lot about myself through his kids. It's been really rewarding."

Their relationship moved fast. Soon after Faris and Chris Pratt announced their separation, she was spotted out with Barrett. By 2022, she was openly marveling over what they had built together. She told People,

"We realized early on that we didn't want to be apart, as so many people have to do in this industry. And so we really prioritized us getting to be together, which is new for me."

Anna Faris admits she had doubts about returning to Scary Movie 6, until Marlon Wayans made the call:

Anna Faris is set to reprise her role as Cindy Campbell in the upcoming Scary Movie 6, though she admitted she wasn't immediately sold on the idea. In an interview with AMC Theatres, she was candid about the hesitation she felt going in,

"I thought if I were to return to Scary Movie, it would be a cameo, I would feel sad, I would definitely feel like an ageing actress in an ageing world."

That changed when Marlon Wayans picked up the phone. She added,

"But when Marlon called me, and he was like, 'The gang are back together!'"

As per a report shared by Bang Premier, the early response to the trailer for the sixth instalment has been overwhelmingly positive. Shawn Wayans spoke about what that reaction meant to him,

"We haven't heard laughs like that collectively in a long time, especially to a trailer, let alone a movie. I think the world needs to laugh. We need to laugh with Gen X, Gen Z and Gen Alpha, we all need to come together and just laugh, because laughter feels good."

Anna Faris agreed, reflecting on just how deeply the original film had stayed with audiences over the years,

"People will tell me, like for the last 20+ years, I remember, I was in the theatre, I was with my cousin, I was with my girlfriend… People remember the collective laugh experience. When you're laughing hard, you can't help but feel great, and remember it."
