Chad Lowe's father has paid tribute to his late granddaughter Fiona, who passed away at thirteen years old. Chuck Lowe, known to his family as Charles, shared a photo of Fiona smiling in a pool via Instagram on Wednesday, September 30. His post carried the words,

"Rest in peace sweet Fiona."

The tribute came one day after Chad, fifty-eight, and his wife Kim Painter publicly announced the loss of their daughter. That being said, the couple still has two daughters together. Nixie Barbara is ten years old, and Mabel Painter is seventeen.

Chad shares his family name with his older brother, actor Rob Lowe, who is sixty-two. As per reports, Chad and Rob Lowe were both born to their mother, Barbara Lynn Hepler, and their father Chuck, who made the remembrance post on social media.

Chad Lowe and his wife Kim Painter broke their silence on Tuesday, September 29, releasing a statement to People following the loss of their daughter Fiona, who was thirteen years old. The Pretty Little Liars alum and Painter opened their statement by sharing,

"We are deeply heartbroken by the loss of our beloved Fiona."

The couple went on to describe their daughter, adding that

"a loving young girl who was smart, creative, and loved to dance. She was adored by her sisters and she was deeply loved by her parents. In fact, she was the light of our lives."

They concluded by asking for prayers and privacy, with the statement reading,

"Her passing is devastating for our entire family and we ask for prayers and privacy at this time."

Just months prior, in November 2025, Chad Lowe had taken to Instagram to celebrate Fiona officially becoming a teenager. He captioned a photo of his daughter with,

"Celebrating Fiona officially becoming a teen today!! Keep dancing through life FiBear! Love you soooo much!!"

Chad Lowe called raising his daughters an incredible privilege in heartfelt interview:

During a 2024 appearance on the Still Here Podcast, Chad Lowe opened up about fatherhood and what raising his three daughters has meant to him. The actor spoke candidly about the experience, sharing that

"I'm a girl dad. It's so interesting because [I'm] always wanting to have my own experiences and not live in the shadow or follow in the footsteps of somebody. I get the experience of being a girl dad. I feel like having daughters is such an incredible privilege."

Lowe then reflected on how fatherhood had shifted his perspective on the world his daughters are growing up in, adding that

"I know that there are struggles. And now it's taken what I've known intellectually, and it's put it in my heart because I now have three daughters. And so, I look at the world from really their perspective and I see the world and a lot of the injustices in the world from their perspective."

That being said, Lowe was quick to point out that he remains hopeful. He explained that

"It's not all doom and gloom. Society is changing. I see how we're really becoming conscious of the role of women. We may, who knows, have the first female president."

"[We're] really empowering women and seeing how much women have to offer. I personally think that if women were in charge of nations, we'd be a lot more peaceful."
