Chris Booker, the co-host of The Perez Hilton Podcast with Chris Booker, has made multiple headlines recently. As per his Instagram statement, the fifty-five-year-old podcaster broke his silence Tuesday evening with an update on the show's future amid Perez Hilton's hospitalization.

Booker, who was born in Wheeling, West Virginia, is no stranger to the entertainment world. As per his IMDB profile, he is a writer with credits including Trouble No More: The Making of a John Mellencamp Album and Lord of the Freaks.

"I am so profoundly sad for Perez and his family and what they're all going through," he shared.

Booker noted he had spoken briefly with Hilton's family and wanted to respect their privacy wishes. The family itself, he revealed, was having difficulty receiving hospital updates due to security measures limiting outside access. He confirmed official updates would appear on PerezHilton.com. As for the shows, Booker described their future as

"TBD at the moment."

"I certainly hope to continue them with my friend when the time is appropriate," he added.

As Perez Hilton's family confirms he is able to communicate, Chris Booker reflects on a decade of podcasting together:

Perez Hilton's family wasted little time in addressing the public following the incident. As per a report shared by USA Today, the family posted a statement on his blog confirming that the forty-eight-year-old blogger is "able to communicate" while receiving medical treatment, though they admitted they had largely been kept in the dark themselves.

"This has been incredibly difficult and emotional for us, made even harder because very little information has been made available to our family. While we continue to wait for further updates, we remain hopeful. We have also been able to confirm that Perez is able to communicate, which has given our family hope," they shared.

The family also addressed the overwhelming public response, adding that

"Your compassionate humanity during this heartbreaking time has meant more than words can express."

As per USA Today, the Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office confirmed it had received "multiple calls" on Aug. 4 about a man "livestreaming acts of self-harm on social media," a situation which has left Perez Hilton hospitalized and under medical care. The office confirmed he was "safely recovered and transported" to a local hospital.

Booker, who has co-hosted alongside Hilton since 2015, wrapped up his statement with a direct message for his friend.

"We've done these shows for over a decade now and the support from our listeners has been resounding. He is very loved. I can only hope that he feels it. Heal up friend," Booker concluded.

Perez Hilton's current hospitalisation isn't his first brush with a health scare this year. Back in March, the blogger posted a video to his YouTube channel titled "my stupidity landed me in the hospital," where he walked fans through a three-week hospital stay in Las Vegas that stemmed from a simple but costly mistake.

Hilton had been taking flu medication earlier in the year. He skipped food with it. That decision led to an ulcer, a perforation and eventually sepsis, a situation which has left many of his fans shaken given his current circumstances.

The first few days in hospital were brutal. Doctors struggled to pinpoint the source of the problem.

"The first few days were a lot of pain and constant tests. Because they couldn't find where the perforation was," he said.

Five days in, surgeons performed laparoscopic surgery. Hilton described the procedure as

"Surgery where they don't cut you up, but they miraculously make these incisions."

It didn't stop there. Doctors had to move his organs around to locate the perforation, drain his lungs and wash out the infection. His heart also became a concern during the stay, landing him on cardiac medication.

"My body just kept falling apart," Hilton said.

He ended the video with a straightforward warning.

"I hope this video can be a cautionary tale to some of you. Take medication with food. That's very important. Don't have it on an empty stomach. Don't end up like me in the hospital for 21 days," he said.
