Professional freestyle skier Gus Kenworthy recently talked about the sports drama series Heated Rivalry, released in November 2025.
According to US Weekly, the 34-year-old Olympic silver medalist and actor praised the show. He also revealed how he related to the closeted gay characters in Jacob Tierney's Crave original show, featuring Hudson Williams, Connor Storrie, Christina Chang, and François Arnaud.
Gus Kenworthy first gained major public attention after competing in the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia. Kenworthy, who is also a YouTuber, came out as gay in 2015. Interestingly, in 2014, before he came out publicly, he was linked and rumored to have a relationship with actress and singer-songwriter Miley Cyrus.
Gus Kenworthy, who has starred in movies and TV shows such as American Horror Story: 1984, Olympic Dreams, and The Sacrifice Game, has previously dated actor Matthew Wilkis, whom he first met on Instagram, as per People Magazine. After dating for four years, the two split in 2019.
According to E! News, Gus Kenworthy has also dated Adam Umhoefer, a foundation executive at Creative Artists Agency, for more than two years. Adam also worked as an executive director at the American Foundation for Equal Rights.
Gus Kenworthy reveals he had a secret relationship

While Gus praised the sports drama series Heated Rivalry, the Olympian skier revealed that he also had a secret relationship similar to one of the characters in the show. As he referred to Scott and Kip's secret relationship, played by François Arnaud and Robbie Graham-Kuntz, respectively, in the show's third episode, Gus took the opportunity to explain, and said:
"I also had a secret relationship, with these clandestine meetings and hookups."
Gus continued:
"And Miley Cyrus was my own Rose, this famous person that I was suddenly linked to, and as much as I kind of wanted it - because that's the person you would want to be with if you're staright, someone successful and beautiful and talented - it's not the same as when you're with a guy."
While talking about how he related to Scott Hunter's character in the show, Gus Kenworthy added:
"And then the Scott Hunter character - I really related to him. He wanted to be out, but really, just truly felt like he couldn't be, because of his circustances. That was me for so many years. I had the same yearning - to be in love, to be public, and to not have to hide."
