Former Bachelor Jake Pavelka is engaged to girlfriend of 2 years, Aimee. The pair got engaged in November last year and finally revealed the engagement exclusively to PEOPLE.

After being confused for a while as to what kind of proposal he wanted, whether something grand and extravagant or simple and sweet, he chose the small and intimate approach. They went for dinner at Drake's Hollywood, near their place in Dallas, and he popped the question once they got home. The pilot-turned-entrepreneur said,

"We went and had a great dinner and laughed and had champagne. Then we took an Uber back to our apartment. I had rose petals on the ground and a table set up with candles. We walked in the apartment and she was like, 'What's going on here? Did somebody break into our apartment?' She was looking at a table trying to figure out how a candle got lit."
He continued, "When she turned around, I was down on one knee with a really pretty ring, and I asked her to marry me. She kind of gasped and then muttered yes. It was sweet and intimate. I definitely made the right choice keeping it private. It was a really special moment."

Who is Jake Pavelka’s fiancée Aimee?

Aimee, 41, works in aerospace and defense contracts, and the couple matched up on Bumble when Jake, 48, was waiting during a layover in Santa Barbara in 2024.

"She was living in Los Angeles. I was very, very intrigued, I'll tell you that."

A week or 2 after that, they finally met for a date in Las Vegas. Though initially she did not know about his past with the ABC reality show, Jake Pavelka eventually had to come clean and tell her about it. To his relief, she asked the same basic questions that almost everyone asks him. Speaking of his journey on the popular show, the show's host at the time, Chris Harrison and executive producer Martin Hilton gave him a piece of advice that he gratefully took and applied.

Jake Pavelka explained,

"When I did The Bachelor, there were two people who gave me really solid advice," Jake says. "The first one was [then-host] Chris Harrison. He said, 'If I could offer you any advice, don't quit your day job. This is an opportunity and it's a moment in time to accentuate what you're doing currently."
Jake further added, "There's all of this opportunity after The Bachelor, because for a short moment in time, you're recognizable, you get offers. Do all of it, and stay true to who you are.'"

Jake Pavelka enjoyed his time in Hollywood with stints like Dancing with the Stars and several TV roles, but finally stepped back from the public eye after his cameo on JoJo Fletcher's 2016 season of The Bachelorette. He flew planes for a while before starting his waste management business, Rhino Removal.

While talking about Jake Pavelka, Aimee gushed,

"I just never experienced anything like this with anyone. Jake is just so genuine. He's so kind and thoughtful, and he makes me feel so loved. He makes me feel safe, supported, secure. He just has the biggest heart. Being with him is just so easy and effortless and I just feel completely at peace with him. He just makes me the happiest I've ever been. And I just feel like I'm the luckiest girl in the world."

Jake Pavelka is just as smitten and thinks Aimee was completely worth the wait.

"I'm 48 years old. I wasn't sure if I was ever going to get married. You hear people talk about marriage being the best decision that they ever made, and I can clearly see it. I see exactly what they're talking about. It's very simple: Aimee makes me better as a person. She brings perspective and balance."

As for their wedding plans, the two wish to have a ceremony in the West.

"Aimee's family, for the most part, is in L.A.. I think it's going to make most sense to have a wedding in California where it's easy for her family, and my aunts and uncles live between [L.A.] and Orange County. My family from Texas is pretty mobile, so we can travel out there. So, I think we're going to have an early summer wedding in California."

Jake Pavelka, who was known as Jake the Pilot, first joined Bachelor Nation as a contestant on Jillian Harris's 2009 season of The Bachelorette, 17 years ago. A year later, he starred in the 14th season of The Bachelor, which ended with him proposing to contestant Vienna Girardi. However, that did not last long as the two split three months after the finale.
