After the Cecil B. DeMille Award-winning actor-turned-film producer Michael Douglas opened up for the first time about his secret relationship with actress Kathleen Turner in his recently released book One Helluva Ride, the veteran actor has also mentioned in his memoir that he was in a romantic relationship with Jeanne Tripplehorn, who was his costar in Paul Verhoeven's crime thriller film Basic Instinct, according to Page Six.

Jeanne Tripplehorn, who has been married to The Bone Collector actor Leland Orser since 2000, with whom she shares a son, first came across Michael Douglas in 1991 during the production of Basic Instinct, in which Sharon Stone was also one of the leads.

While most people back then assumed that it was Stone with whom Douglas was having an affair, eventually, in his memoir, Douglas revealed it was Tripplehorn.

As cited by Fox News, in his book One Helluva Ride, released on October 6, 2026, Douglas mentioned that he was extremely in love with Jeanne Tripplehorn and had pretty much made up his mind to divorce Diandra Luker, his wife at the time. In his book, Michael wrote:

"The truth is, I fell very hard for Jeanne despite our nearly 20-year age difference. In fact, I was ready to officially leave my wife for Jeanne. I was crazy about her."

Douglas then mentioned that his affair with Tripplehorn only lasted through production, and as the filming of Basic Instinct was over, they parted and went their separate ways. Douglas further added:

"But I will always think of her as an amazing actress and a truly terrific woman that I was very fortunate to spend time with."

As cited by Woman's World, Jeanne Tripplehorn, looking back at her long acting career, which stretches over three decades, opened up in an interview about being in the "fun" phase of her professional career.

The Mickey Blue Eyes actress, Jeanne, mentioned that she had reached a point in her career where she has the option to choose what she genuinely feels like working on. She said:

"I’ve been doing this for so long, and I feel like I’ve had different phases of being an actor. I’m not saying that I don’t have to work now because obviously I still do, but I’m now able to be a little choosier in what I want and what I want is, I don’t want to act because I have to, I want to act because of a particular director or a script that inspires me to play as an actor, and to get back to why I loved it in the first place."

While talking to a local newspaper about her crime-drama series The Lowdown, starring Ethan Hawke and Kyle MacLachlan, which is set in her hometown, Tulsa, Jeanne Tripplehorn said:

"This whole experience is emotionally fulfilling and charged. In so many ways, this is all coming home. It’s coming home creatively. It’s coming home to my hometown."
