Karamo Brown has made multiple headlines recently after he opted out of Morning Show stops, citing mental and emotional abuse. As per a report shared by The Hollywood Reporter, the stars of Netflix's Queer Eye made the network morning show rounds on Tuesday to promote the show's forthcoming final season. However, Karamo Brown chose not to join them.
Karamo Brown has battled depression and anxiety for years, and as per a report shared by People, his kids, Jason and Christian, changed his life for the better.
The Thing About Harry star recalled in his memoir, Karamo: My Story of Embracing Purpose, Healing, and Hope that he had a strong initial connection with Jason. Which inspired him to get sober. Years later, Karamo credited his elder child with helping him reach that milestone.
"My son saved my life — and as much as people have always said I saved his, he saved my life because it gave me an opportunity to see that there was more to life than just me," he told People in 2019.
Over time, Karamo also bonded with Brooks' other son, Christian. He helped him thrive by welcoming him into his home.
Gayle King read Karamo Brown's statement on CBS Mornings after he skipped an interview less than an hour before his appearance:

Karamo Brown sent a statement to CBS Mornings explaining why he skipped the interview. The Queer Eye team's first stop on Tuesday was the show. Brown said in the statement that he opted out of the interview to focus on his mental health. Brown's assistant also sent a statement to NBC's Today. The assistant said that Karamo has felt mentally and emotionally abused for years.
Brown's costars reacted with surprise to his absence. Antoni Porowski, Jonathan Van Ness, Tan France, and Jeremiah Brent appeared without him. Anchor Gayle King then said on CBS Mornings that the show received word less than an hour before the cast's appearance that Brown wouldn't be on camera. King read part of a statement he sent to the show.
"I hope everyone remembers the main theme I have tried to teach them over the past decade, which is to focus on and protect their mental health/peace from people or a world who seek to destroy it; which is why I can't be there today," the statement said.
King also said that Karamo Brown's assistant shared that he's worried about being bullied. Porowski spoke about Brown not being with the group.

"Surprised is a fair understatement. I will say, our Queer Eye family, we've been doing this for almost a decade, which is pretty wild to believe. And families are complicated. We're definitely not excluded from that," shared Porowski.
"But I think two things can exist at the same time, and while that is definitely true, we're also here to showcase these incredible heroes we have and honor the legacy of this past decade of our lives," addded Porowski.
Karamo Brown recalled fearing the unknown before meeting son Jason for the first time:

As per the report shared by People, Karamo Brown shared how his kids helped him get better during all the adversities he faced. He talked about discovering court papers on his doorstep in 2006. The documents were seeking child support for Jason, who was 10 years old at the time. He saw the name of his high school friend Stephanie Brooks on the paperwork.
Karamo Brown found the court papers that revealed he had fathered Jason. He made arrangements to meet his son. The meeting didn't come without fear of the unknown.
"A little voice in my head was saying, Karamo, you don't have to do this. You're a child, and you're supposed to go in there and raise a child? Run for your life. At the same time, I thought, What if he needs me?" he wrote in his memoir.
Brooks welcomed Christian Brown in March 2000. Jason shared this in a 2018 Instagram post, wishing his brother a happy 18th birthday.
The television personality connected with Jason back then. He eventually grew close to Christian and realised that Christian was getting into some trouble at the time. He moved in with Karamo and Jason to get him back on the right path. And when Karamo saw Christian thrive in his new environment, he offered to become his legal guardian. Brooks agreed.
The Queer Eye star asked Christian if he wanted to live with him and Jason permanently, and there was no uncertainty.
"He said yes and jumped into my arms," Karamo recalled to People.
Through his journey of fame, fatherhood, and healing, Karamo Brown has continued his belief in one powerful truth: protecting mental health and saving lives.
