Who is Kate Arrington? Michael Shannon split from his wife four years before marring photographer girlfriend 

Kate Arrington, the Broadway actress and Steppenwolf Ensemble member, has made multiple headlines recently, as her ex-husband Michael Shannon has reportedly remarried. Shannon, who is now fifty-two years old, wed photographer Christy Bush in Athens, Georgia earlier this month. The wedding ceremony was held in the Bullet Train actor's hometown.

As per a report shared by Page Six, Michael Shannon and Christy Bush obtained a marriage license on July 27. The license has since been returned to county court. It is currently awaiting a judge's signature.

A source noted that the wedding was attended by famous friends and industry people. Bush, who is fifty-five years old, had previously joined Shannon as his plus one at a Paris Fashion Week event in January of this year. That being said, the Groundhog Day actor hasn't publicly confirmed his split from Arrington, and as per a report shared by TMZ, the former couple are believed to have privately separated sometime in 2022.

Kate Arrington is now fifty-one years old and was born in Plainfield, New Jersey. As per her IMDb profile, Arrington shares two daughters with Shannon, Sylvie and Marion. Her work has kept her closely tied to the stage, where she is best known as a Steppenwolf Ensemble member in Chicago, and even performed on Broadway in Grace alongside Paul Rudd, Ed Asner, and Shannon himself, as well as Our Mother's Brief Affair with Linda Lavin.

Kate Arrington opened up about sharing the screen with Michael Shannon:

Throughout her career, Arrington has appeared in Martin Scorsese's The Irishman and the TV series Mare of Easttown, along with a number of independent projects. Back in 2022, she added another credit to that list with Night's End, a modern haunted house story directed by Jennifer Reeder. The film follows a man battling mental health issues and terrifying visions of ghosts and demons, who eventually seeks an exorcism. It starred Geno Walker, Kate Arrington, Shannon, and Theo Germaine.

Kate Arrington spoke about the project in an interview with The Digital Fix, and opened up about what it was like performing opposite Shannon, her then husband at the time.

"Oh, it was hilarious. We've been working together a lot over the last year. We enjoy it, we like to get that time together, as well as all the time we have as a home and a family," she shared.

Arrington then went on to describe the specific dynamic on set for Night's End, noting it had a distinctly Chicago feel to it.

"This one was funny, because it's such a Chicago project. Our dressing room was just upstairs, with the women who live in the apartment, and we were watching soap operas, hanging out, and looking at their son's wrestling pictures. Obviously that's not the norm for Mike, but he's always willing to jump in for his old friends. It was fun and silly, and just great," continued Arrington.

Kate Arrington revealed how she and Michael Shannon both ended up in Night's End:

In the same interview with The Digital Fix, Arrington was asked how the collaboration came about, and whether she was cast before Shannon or the other way around.

"It was actually a collaboration between two people, one of whom Mike is very close with, and has been for many years, Brett Neveu. They've been in a theatre company in Chicago called Red Orchid for a long time. Mike's been in it for his adult life, and Brett has been part of it as long as I've known Mike, so like, 15 years," she shared.

Arrington then explained that her own connection to the project came through a separate relationship entirely.

"Jennifer and I have a separate relationship. We worked together on Knives and Skin, and kinda fell in love with one another and have been very close ever since. So, it was this interesting thing where two people who we have separate relationships with, decided to collaborate," Arrington continued.

She also cleared up the order in which the casting fell into place.

"I did decide to do it first, but then as soon as I did, I think they started thinking about getting Mike in as my husband," Arrington added.
