Keith David received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Thursday, as a number of dignitaries, including Mayor Karen Bass, attended the star-unveiling ceremony. The event doubled as a birthday celebration for David, who turned seventy years old on the same day.

Keith David is married to Dionne Lea Williams. As per a report shared by Mandatory, the couple crossed paths in 2000, dated for one year and tied the knot in a private ceremony in 2001. Since then, they have continued to be each other's support system.

David, who graduated from Manhattan's High School of Performing Arts in 1975, went on to earn his degree from the Juilliard School in 1979. In 1980 and 1981, he toured the country with John Houseman's The Acting Company in productions of A Midsummer Night's Dream and Waiting for Godot.

As per a report shared by NBC Los Angeles, his star on the Walk of Fame sits next to the star of Nat King Cole, a singer David has a special connection to. He portrayed Cole in the touring theatrical and musical tribute shows Too Marvelous for Words: A Celebration of Nat King Cole and Let There Be Love. The star is the 2,847th added since the Walk of Fame was completed in 1961 with the initial 1,558 stars.

As per a report shared by Mandatory, Keith David and Williams share two children. The couple welcomed their first daughter, MaeLea, in August 2001, followed by a second daughter, Ruby Lea, in 2004. Keith David also has a son from a previous marriage.

Dionne Lea Williams is also an actress. She attended NYU's Tisch School of the Arts and went on to complete her education at the University of Evansville. Williams got into acting at fourteen years old and has since been involved in projects like Ray Meets Helen, Heelbent, ER, and Dolphin Island, among others.

That being said, despite building a career in the entertainment industry, Williams doesn't regard herself simply as an actress. She took to Instagram to explain the title she gave herself instead, sharing,

"I started acting when I was 14. I went to Arts HS. I have a BFA in theatre. I have an MFA in acting," she shared.
"So naturally, when folks ask me what I do, I say, 'I'm an actor.' However, when you work sporadically, you don't actually feel like an actor. When you can't roll off a list of well-known shows or movies in which you've appeared, folks give you the side eye," she continued.
"I decided to step back to take a long hard look at my career, and renamed myself…a storyteller! What a difference a title makes, right?! Storyteller = freedom…to me. Free to tell my stories in any form I choose. Deep breath," she added.

As per a report shared by Variety, Keith David shared a memory from the first time he visited Venice, recalling how he found a quiet corner inside Doge's Palace. He had recently understudied Raúl Juliá in Othello at the time, and the ancient acoustics of the vast chamber were too hard to resist.

"The rooms were so enormous, and there were lots of people around, but I was in that little corner by myself," he told Variety.
"It was just a few years after I had played Othello, and I just wanted to hear what it sounded like saying my lines in this room, like I was addressing the senate. You stand in that corner and whisper, and you can really be heard throughout the whole room," he added.

That moment of solitude inside a place layered with centuries of history shaped how David thinks about legacy. For him, the Hollywood Walk of Fame carries that same weight. It isn't about fame. It's about the names that came before his, and what standing among them actually means.

"It reminds me of the shoulders on whom I stand, these great actors whom I respect and learn from," he shared.
"Now I get to join that. That's pretty wonderful," he added.
