Kendra Duggar's parents, Paul and Christina Caldwell, had launched a GoFundMe to cover housing and legal bills, as per a report shared by Parade. The couple had set up the fundraiser on behalf of themselves and their children on April 4. However, the GoFundMe campaign was taken down after raising almost $9,000, as per a report shared by Prime Timer.
Paul and Christina Caldwell haven't publicly addressed the arrests of Kendra and her husband, Joseph Duggar, yet, and nobody knows if their financial situation has anything to do with their daughter and son-in-law's ongoing court cases.
As per a report shared by CBS News, Kendra Duggar, who is now twenty-seven years old, was arrested for misdemeanor charges that include endangering the welfare of a child and false imprisonment. The charges came a day after her husband, Joseph Duggar, who is now thirty-one years old, was charged with molestation.
Paul Caldwell, who has also made multiple appearances on the Duggar family’s TLC show, “Counting On,” wrote on the GoFundMe:
"My family is facing a difficult and urgent situation. We are in need of support to cover legal fees and secure safe housing. This has been an incredibly stressful time, and we are doing everything we can to protect ourselves and move forward."
Kendra Duggar's parents ask for help covering legal bills through an online fundraiser:
Paul Caldwell broke down where the fundraiser money would have gone.
"The funds raised will go directly toward legal representation to help us navigate the challenges ahead, as well as finding a safe place to live," he said.
"Both are essential for our well-being and peace of mind. We are grateful for any help, whether it's a donation or simply sharing our story with others who might be able to support us," he continued.
Paul had ended his GoFundMe post with a message of gratitude.
"Thank you all so much for your care, concern, and prayers during this difficult time. We have set up this GoFundMe to help cover the unknown expenses of legal fees and housing. Anything you can do is a help—even if it's just prayer. Your support means the world to us as we work to rebuild and find safety," he shared.
As per the report shared by Parade, Paul, who is now forty-eight years old, didn't explain the specific reasons his family needed legal help.
And as per a report shared by Entertainment Now, the Caldwell family holds the same type of conservative Christian views as the Duggar family and makes faith a priority in their daily lives. Kendra Duggar was brought up in a home where religion shaped everything.
Kendra's dad even served as a pastor throughout her childhood. However, the Caldwells have never been publicly connected to the Institute in Basic Life Principles, unlike the Duggars, who have well-known ties to the organization.
Kendra Duggar leans on faith as Joseph faces molestation charges:
As per a report shared by E! News, Joseph Duggar was extradited to Florida, where he faced allegations of molesting a then-nine-year-old girl on a family trip in 2020. Before that happened, a TMZ recording from March 31 captured Kendra Duggar on the phone with him at the Arkansas jail. In their conversation, Kendra was heard reassuring Joseph that love hadn't gone anywhere despite the circumstances.
"Just know that everybody loves you — even if they're disappointed, just understand that they love you, too," Kendra told him.
Joseph Duggar, who shares four children with Kendra Duggar, said he understood why people were disappointed. On March 31, Joseph, who is also famous for appearing on 19 Kids and Counting, made a virtual court appearance in Florida. He entered a not guilty plea to lewd and lascivious behavior involving unlawful sexual activity with a minor.
Joseph's bond came to $600,000, and the judge barred him from contacting his alleged victim or any minors once out.
As per E! News, court documents confirmed he was released on bond after the hearing. Kendra Duggar had been charged with child endangerment and false imprisonment in Arkansas after Joseph's arrest on March 18, and she told him that faith was carrying her through.
"God is gonna get us through this one day at a time," she said, adding,
"Every time I look up the staircase I melt into a puddle, so we've decided to take it one day at a time, one moment at a time."
Joseph Duggar had been doing the same from his cell. A People Magazine recording from a March 20 call showed him telling Kendra he had been in solitary confinement and spending most of his time with the Bible.
"I'm in solitary. I'm in the cell 23 hours of the day. It's like an 8-by-10 area. I've been able to read a lot actually and resting some, but I'm not sleeping great through the night," Joseph said,
To which Kendra told him, "It's good to hear from you," after he said it was "good to hear your voice."
