Kimmy King, the TikToker known for her food preparation and family content, has recently made controversy over a remark she directed at a Black woman online. King, who is thirty-seven years old, runs the popular honestlymum account on TikTok, where she has built a following of more than 200,000 people through her viral sandwich-making videos. As per reports, King is now out of a partnership with bread company Nature’s Own following the incident, which quickly drew significant backlash across social media.

The controversy began after a Black woman left a negative comment on King’s Nature’s Own Bread partnership post, accusing the TikToker of not feeding her children enough food. King responded by filming a video directed at the woman, which she posted and later deleted, though not before it had attracted considerable attention online. In the clip, she told her viewers,

“Imagine being that miserable that you came and commented on my job.”

Kimmy King then added,

“Don’t worry, one monkey doesn’t stop the show…and I do mean monkey.”

Kimmy King apologises as Nature’s Own confirms it has cut ties with the TikToker:

Nature’s Own Bread didn’t stay silent for long. Following the spread of Kimmy King's clip online, the company issued a formal statement confirming the partnership had come to an end. As per their statement,

“We’re aware of the recent comments made by an influencer we previously partnered with. We do not condone racism or discriminatory language of any kind. Our partnership has concluded, and we have no plans to work with this individual in the future.”

Kimmy King didn’t stay quiet either. She issued a public apology shortly after, in which she offered her own account of what happened.

“I want to sincerely apologize. I used a phrase, but the way I emphasized it, particularly in the context of who I was addressing, was insensitive and understandably hurtful. I was frustrated and allowed my emotions in the moment to influence how I responded, but I should have been more thoughtful with my words. I’m human. I got it wrong, and I’m genuinely sorry to the people I hurt or offended,” shared King.

The partnership made sense on paper. Nature’s Own Bread had built their brand around clean, simple ingredients, and had even recently backed that up with a Non-GMO Project verification. As per their website,

“Nature’s Own is committed to baking Non-GMO bread with only the ingredients you need and nothing you don’t. Our promise: no artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives, ever. With a focus on quality and transparency, we’re proud that all our bread is now made with even fewer, simpler ingredients and is NON-GMO Project Verified,”

The brand added,

“At Nature’s Own, we believe pure goodness is best when it’s simple—and when you can see it for yourself. Choose Nature’s Own for bread made with simpler ingredients, and a better for you bread option that’s perfect for your family’s healthy lifestyle,”

Kimmy King reveals the story of meeting her husband and the meal that won him over:

Back in June 2023, Kimmy King uploaded a YouTube video titled How I Met My Husband and the Meal That Sealed the Deal. In it, she walked viewers through the full story of how she and her husband crossed paths, along with the first meal she ever cooked for him. As a self-described picky eater, that recipe turned out to be salmon with honey and simple broccoli with lemon.

The story started with a DM. Kimmy King slid into his inbox for professional reasons, having spotted that he was a furniture designer in LA and wanting to gain some experience in the field. He was surprised to hear from her, and told her they should meet up when he got back from the East Coast.

There was a twist, though. Her husband had already been following King on Instagram before she ever reached out, thought what she was doing was purposeful and cool, and found her beautiful. Just before the Fourth of July, he asked if she was free for a Friday lunch.

Kimmy King assumed it was a professional meeting. She thought he was simply picking up where the conversation about design experience had left off, and had no idea it was a date. He picked her up and took her to Spitz in the valley.

She wasn’t leaving anything to chance. Right before he arrived, King stepped outside her apartment complex and pretended to look at paint swatches, just to seem like she knew something about design. When he opened the car door for her like a gentleman, she told her viewers,

“If this is a business lunch, but okay, we’ll see.”

During lunch, King texted her friend Michelle, telling her she thought she was having lunch with her future husband. The date wrapped up with both of them eager to see each other again, and instead of waiting until the following week, he asked if he could come over the next day for dinner. He came over, she cooked, and his heart melted on the very first bite.
