An art department production assistant for the Prime Video original show Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Mary Kate Golding, was discovered dead at her residence in New York City's Astoria neighborhood on July 21, 2026, according to People. Mary was 34. The New York Police Department informed People that there were injuries on Golding's body that appeared to be stab wounds.

After Mary Kate Golding's body was found at her NYC home, NYPD officers, a few hours later, discovered another dead body of a male individual nearby at Astoria Park South. As cited by People, a source close to the police revealed it was Mary Kate's husband, Joseph Azzaretto.

While the investigation is still ongoing, the police department has not yet mentioned any particular reason behind Mary Kate Golding's unfortunate death and has so far reportedly considered the case a murder-suicide. As cited by Us Weekly, according to IMDb, Mary Kate, who was a well-established set designer and an assistant set director, has worked on popular TV shows and films including Goosebumps and the Kumail Nanjiani-starrer rom-com The Big Sick. As mentioned on her Facebook, Golding attended New York University.

According to Us Weekly, Mary Kate Golding, who was the mother of a son whom she shared with Joseph Azzaretto, was reportedly murdered by her husband as he stabbed her in the back. As cited by the New York Post, NYPD sources informed that after stabbing Golding to death, Azzaretto made a phone call to one of Mary's friends, reportedly admitting that he murdered Mary.

While the police think Mary's husband stabbed her after they got involved in a heated conversation, the authorities have not yet officially considered the couple's death a murder-suicide.
