Who was Sharon Stone married to? Actress reveals why she stopped pursuing casual relationships

Sharon Stone has been making headlines recently for opening up about her personal life. The Basic Instinct actress is sixty-eight years old and appeared on Mayim Bialik's Breakdown podcast on Tuesday, Sept. 8. Stone revealed on the podcast that she has been celibate for "quite a while."

Stone has been married twice. As per a report shared by People, she was previously married to producer Michael Greenburg from 1984 to 1990, and later to journalist Phil Bronstein from 1998 to 2004. Stone adopted her eldest son, Roan, in 2000, with Bronstein. Following her split, she went on to adopt sons Laird, in 2005, and Quinn, a year later in 2006.

Now that her kids have grown up, Stone shared that she is looking for something more meaningful, adding that she is now seeking

"someone that's my companion, not just someone to have sex with."

She called the period she is currently in

"the phase you need to be willing to be in to have the thing that I really want."

She even shared her opinion about casual relationships,

"I'm kind of bored with that," she explained.

During the podcast episode, Mayim Bialik asked Sharon Stone what she was like "as a girlfriend" while the two were discussing their relationship patterns. Stone was candid in her response, sharing that she hasn't been in a relationship in a long time.

"I'm a really good girlfriend, but I haven't been a girlfriend in a long time," she shared.

"I've been a girlfriend to bad boyfriends, and I've been a girlfriend to good boyfriends," she added.

Sharon Stone then reflected on her overall dating experience, sharing that

"I've had good luck and bad luck and no luck at all."

She went on to explain the reasoning behind her celibacy, adding that

"For quite a long time I've had no luck at all. I've been celibate for quite a while now because I'm just at the point where I really only want to be with someone that I care for."

Later in the episode, Bialik asked Stone a deeper question, inquiring whether she had ever experienced a great love in her life. Stone's response was honest.

"I have had loves in my life, but I don't think I've had the great love of my life," she replied.

Back in 2018, Sharon Stone opened up about life as a single mother in a report shared by People. The actress had spoken at the Marie Claire Power Trip, held at a private retreat outside of San Francisco, on the topic "Power Your Legacy: Following Your Instincts to Kill It in Hollywood." Stone's advice to the audience was to follow their instincts not just in business, but in family life too.

Following the panel, Stone spoke to People about her sons and shared that she was in a very happy place.

"This is a very good period of my life right now, my life is happy," she shared.

She went on to describe what life at home looked like, adding that

"I live in the same house I've had for 25 years, and I feel happy waking up in my house with my kids."

Sharon Stone also reflected on the simple joys of raising her boys, sharing that

"They're at a wonderful age when we don't have to have a nanny living with us anymore. I can wake up on a Saturday and I come downstairs, and they're playing and we hang out. We swim, play basketball, we watch movies. We have such a lovely family dynamic."

She noted that reaching that point as a single parent took "work and time and years and effort."

That happiness hadn't come without its share of pain. Sharon Stone had survived a brain aneurysm back in 2001, and had also endured a very public custody battle over her eldest son Roan, following her divorce from journalist Phil Bronstein.
