After hosting Saturday Night Live for the fifth time on April 4, 2026, Jack Black has officially joined the exclusive Five-Timers Club. Only a few have reached this prestigious hosting achievement in the history of the long-running show. The Five-Timers Club is an unofficial but iconic group of celebrities who have hosted Saturday Night Live five or more times. Although Chevy Chase, Buck Henry, Steve Martin, Bergen, and Elliott Gould were among the first members of the club, the actual skit took place in 1990. Tom Hanks became the first official member of the club in 1990, when he hosted the show for the fifth time, thus giving birth to this concept. Since then, it has developed into a tradition where the inductees receive a velvet robe with the number 5 on the left side during their milestone episode.Notable members of the Five-Timers Club Numerous well-known celebrities have joined the group over time, including Tom Hanks, Steve Martin, Danny DeVito, Ben Affleck, Drew Barrymore, Justin Timberlake, Melissa McCarthy, Emma Stone and many more. Stone remains the youngest ever to be inducted into the club at the age of 35, and Dwayne Johnson is the only non-white celebrity. Some of them have hosted the prestigious show more than five times. Alec Baldwin holds the top spot with a whopping 17 times, even winning an Emmy in 2017 for his portrayal of Donald Trump. Other than hosting it 17 times, he has multiple cameo appearances on the show as well. Right after, Bladwin, Steve Martin is in second place, just by a difference of 1 show. He is the fastest to host the show five times in just 1 year and 181 days.Following Martin is John Goodman, with an impressive 13 credits, and Tom Hanks, who is credited with coining the "Five-Timers Club" with 10 hosting credits. Buck Henry shares fourth place with Hanks, with 10 hosting credits, being the first to host SNL five times. Followed by Chevy Chase, who has hosted the show 8 times.Scarlett Johansson is also on the list with 7 hosting credits. SNL is also the place where she met her husband, Colin Jost, in 2006, though they did not start dating until 2017. Christopher Walken, who last hosted the show in 2008, also has the same credits as Johansson.From the SNL writer's room, John Mulaney has hosted at 6 times, as well as Elliot Gould, who is widely remembered for being Ross and Monica Geller's father. Also joining them with 6 host credits is the show's very own and SNL legend, Tina Fey and comedy genius Danny DeVito, who had once cohosted with his wife, Rhea Perlman. As he was hosting, Black was interrupted by Jonah Hill, who claimed that something was wrong with the Club. Only for both of them to find it with a spooky theme, with cobwebs and decorative items. Black then warned Hill:“There’s evil lurking around every corner.”To which someone in the shadows replied:“No, it’s just me.”Then Tina Fey, who was donning her SNL UK one-timer jacket, which she got from hosting the British spinoff of the show. Fey then went on to congratulate Black for joining the Five-Timers Club. “I wanted to congratulate you on a historic night. You’re officially the first Black in the Five-Timers Club.”As the three went on to try to revive the club, Candice Bergen and Melissa McCarthy joined in. Later on, Jack White joined in and performed Seven Nation Army, with Jack Black as he sang:“I’m gonna make it right. The five-timer army gonna lift the curse. We got Jack Black and White, he’s shredding his axe while I sing the next verse.”As other members joined in with him, Jack Black then said:“I can’t believe this is really happening.
