Who were Will Reeve’s parents? All about Dana and Christopher Reeve as GMA anchor opens up about his cancer diagnosis

Television personality and Good Morning America anchor Will Reeve, who was diagnosed with testicular cancer in April 2026, opened up about his cancer journey to People, as he shared how he dealt with the whole treatment process and managed to overcome it by eventually being cancer-free.

According to People, Will Reeve, 34, broke the news of his cancer diagnosis on the September 29, 2026, episode of Good Morning America. Reeve, who is married to Amanda Dubin Reeve, a professional event planner, is now completely cancer-free after undergoing an orchiectomy in May 2026. However, he eventually had to undergo another surgery in June and also received chemotherapy.

As the ABC News national correspondent, Will Reeve is out of danger health-wise, and he decided to go public with his cancer diagnosis and share his side of the story to make an impact and help inspire people who might be going through the same difficulty, which he had just overcome. The son of the legendary Superman actor Christopher Reeve and Dana Reeve, Will said:

"I was raised to share one’s struggles if, in doing so, that might help others. Watching my parents up close take the adversity they faced in their lives and repurpose it into something hopeful left a major impact on my life and how I try to live it."

While Will Reeve chose to be in the field of journalism, both his parents, Christopher Reeve and Dana Reeve, were part of Hollywood and the entertainment industry.

An iconic cultural figure, Christopher Reeve, who died in 2004 after suffering heart failure, led a difficult life after being paralyzed following an accident in 1995. On the other hand, Will's mother, Dana, who was also an actress and an activist, died in 2006 after suffering from lung cancer.

According to People, while talking about living his life in a simple and more intentional manner, keeping in mind what actually matters and is important in life, Will Reeve said, regarding losing his parents when he was quite young:

"I’ve had a lot happen in my life. But none of it until now had happened to me in a way. My dad got injured and then the next nine years a lot of our focus was taking care of him and making sure that we had as full and happy a life as possible, while also facing the realities of my dad being paralyzed and in a wheelchair, unable to move or breathe on his own."

He went ahead and added:

"And then he died, and I had to learn what grief was. And shortly after that, my mom, who had never smoked, gets sick with lung cancer and then dies, and I learned grief all over again at a different level."

Will Reeve opens up about his colleagues and family who were supportive during his fight with testicular cancer

The renowned television personality Will Reeve, while mentioning his cancer journey, shared how it has taught him to be more mindful and care about his health by getting his blood work and necessary tests done from time to time. He also talked about his ABC workmates, who were a huge support, and mentioned that he was lucky enough to catch the cancer in its early days. He said:

"My colleagues at ABC are like family to me and have been with me every step of the way. I’m fortunate that I caught this early. Yes, I had to jump through some flaming hoops to get to the other side, but it could have been much worse had I ignored it or delayed going to the doctor."

As he shared how extremely supportive his family members were during those difficult times, Will Reeve said:

"The experience has taught me to pay attention to my body. And lean on your people. That started for me with Amanda, but it extends to my siblings [Alexandra, 42, and Matthew Reeve, 46, from his dad’s earlier relationship with Gae Exton], family, close friends and colleagues who helped carry me through."
