Oscar-nominated actor and Saltburn star Barry Keoghan has drawn online attention after UK-based celebrity facial expert Nilam Holmes shared a video of him undergoing Xerf treatment. The Irish actor, Keoghan, 34, recently underwent Xerf, which is a needle-free radiofrequency cosmetic treatment meant to lift and tighten skin.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Barry Keoghan opened up some time ago about being cyberbullied over his physical appearance. The cyberbullying and criticism he faced online over how he looked eventually became one of the primary reasons he underwent cosmetic treatment.
Barry Keoghan, who recently starred alongside the Academy Award-winning actor Cillian Murphy in the Peaky Blinders film directed by Tom Harper, opened up about undergoing Xerf treatment in a video shared by Nilam Holmes, the founder of Dermaspa, on October 23, 2026. In the video, Keoghan said:
"I mean, I’ve been hearing a lot about it. And Nilam is very excited about it and she’s great at what she does. I really mean that, and again, every time I come in, it’s very relaxing and therapeutic. Nilam looks after my skin."
While talking about how he feels better about himself, Keoghan said:
"I feel better about myself. I look better. I think it’s important to look after yourself inside and outside."
In the caption of her video with Barry Keoghan, which she posted on her Instagram, Nilam Holmes mentioned that it was his second time undergoing Xerf and stated that his skin has improved over time. Holmes wrote in the caption:
"I've been working with Barry for a while now, looking after his skin through different movies, campaigns and projects and the trust he places in me means a lot. His skin has really improved over the last few years and he looks great."
Barry Keoghan opened up about getting online hate over how he looks

Barry Keoghan, who is reportedly starring in Matt Reeves' The Batman: Part II, opened up about facing online hate and criticism regarding his physical appearance during a conversation with hosts Nicole Ryan and Ryan Sampson on SiriusXM's The Morning Mash Up in March 2026. The Banshees of Inisherin actor said:
"There’s a lot of hate online. There’s a lot of abuse of how I look, and it’s kind of past the point of — you know, everyone goes through that. But it’s made me shy away. It’s made me really go inside myself, not want to attend places, not want to go outside."
He added:
"It’s becoming a problem. I actually don’t go to places because of these things."
