Professional model-turned-businesswoman Brittany Boltinhouse, recently crowned Miss North Carolina USA, had her title revoked by the Miss USA organization. According to People, while Boltinhouse won the title of Miss North Carolina on June 28, 2026, her crown was taken away just weeks later by the Miss USA authorities on August 5, 2026.

After Brittany Boltinhouse was stripped of her Miss North Carolina title, she sued the Miss USA organization. According to People, she filed the lawsuit against Thom Brodeur, who is the CEO of Miss USA, and other important members of the organization. Brittany's lawsuit was filed in North Carolina's Duplin County Superior Court on August 23, 2026.

Brittany Boltinhouse sued the Miss USA organization because she reportedly claimed that the members of the organization, including Thom Brodeur, falsely accused her of being a bigot and a racist. She also stated that the pageant organization wrongfully depicted her as transphobic and homophobic.

As per People, Brittany Boltinhouse, in the court documents, specifically mentioned that she did not file the lawsuit because her title was revoked but becuase she was falsely accused of things that, according to her, were not completely true. However, in the court filing, Brittany also mentioned that right after she won the title of Miss North Carolina, her social media posts dating back to 2017 and 2019 began to reappear, in which she used racist and derogatory remarks.

Brittany's court documents also mentioned social media posts that showed her opposing the Transgender Day of Visibility announcement made by Joe Biden and other posts which showed her support for Donald Trump and the late founder of Turning Point USA, Charlie Kirk.

As cited by People, Brittany Boltinhouse claimed that the Miss USA organization decided to take away her Miss North Carolina title becuase of those old posts and also for her conservative views on politics and religion. Brittany has also sought financial compensation from the Miss USA organization for reportedly putting her personal image and professional career in jeopardy.

Another lawyer for Brittany, Stephen Bell, said:

"While defendants enjoy a certain level of discretion to crown and remove titleholders, they cannot remove a titleholder for political reasons and then defame that titleholder to the public to hide their true motivations. That is what the evidence will show occurred here."
