Nearly five decades after Elvis Presley's death, Ginger Alden, the woman who shared his final chapter, is reflecting publicly on their love story that ended too soon.
The King of Rock's former fiancée, who had discovered him lifeless in his bathroom in 1977, posted a heartfelt ode on social media to share her memories with the Burning Love star, alongside some rare photos of them together.
"This was a special day 49 years ago for Elvis and myself becoming engaged. I will always hold dear his sincere and beautiful words to me then and near the end, his confiding in me and our love for one another. Thank you Elvis, you filled my life with many wonderful memories."
Elvis Presley and Ginger Alden had an "intense" love affair that began in 1976. Per reports, Alden, a model at the time and former Miss Tennessee contender, was only 20 while Presley was 41.
In November 1976, the pair first met in Graceland, where she lived, and they became a couple shortly after. She also tagged along on his tours, and he took her to Arkansas and Palm Springs.

In a 2019 interview with Elvis Australia, Alden recalled Presley's New Year's Eve show in Pittsburgh.
"I went to almost every one of Elvis's shows after meeting him, and I felt his voice was in the best shape during the last years of his life. It was always great to see him performing at his best and having a great time, as with the New Year's Eve show."
She added:
"I know Elvis always tried to give 100% for his fans. He was always so happy when Lisa [Marie Presley] was able to be at his shows. I always sat in a chair near the stage, and during that particular show, I remember holding Lisa up so she could have a better view of his performance."
Ginger Alden recalled Elvis Presley's proposal: "I was so happy"
Two months later, Elvis Presley proposed to Ginger Alden, presenting her with an 11.5-carat diamond ring. She dished on the memorable experience in her conversation with the fan club, revealing:
"When January 26th came, I felt as if I had known Elvis longer than a few months. Our relationship had been so intense as if he wanted me to know almost everything about him in a short time. I knew I had fallen in love and couldn't imagine not being with him."
She added:
"We had been together a short time, but I felt I had found my soul mate."
Alden narrated that she was called into his bathroom, where Presley finally popped the ring.
"I was called into his bathroom, where Elvis then said many beautiful things, ending his proposal with, 'I never thought that I would find it in my own backyard, I'm asking you, will you marry me?' I was so happy as he presented a green velvet box, opened it, and placed a very large and beautiful diamond ring on my finger."

Sadly, the following month, Ginger Alden found Elvis Presley dead in the bathroom, marking the end of their engagement.
The former model lived a life out of the spotlight after the singer's death, although she released the memoir, Elvis and Ginger, in 2014, where she recounts their short-lived relationship.
Nevertheless, when asked by EA if she still has the ring, she answered:
"Yes, I do."
