President Trump clashed with CNN’s Kaitlan Collins at the UN amid the media ban controversy.Last week, Trump announced a ban on White House access for CNN, Politico, and MS NOW. A day later, the press passes of correspondents from the three media outlets were reportedly taken away. As the backlash continued, five major TV networks that form the TV pool announced a suspension of their White House coverage on Monday.On Tuesday, the president addressed the United Nations General Assembly. Ahead of his UN speech, Trump interacted with the media, where CNN's Kaitlan Collins asked him a question about the Iran war. The president, in response, said, "I'm surprised that CNN is here covering me." The POTUS then said:"You should not be here covering me. You said you weren't going to cover me. You shouldn't be covering me."The CNN reporter reiterated her question and asked when the Iran war will end while claiming that two-thirds of Americans "don't think that the US is winning the war." The president replied:"We're making a lot of progress. Our country is doing really, really well."Kaitlan Collins says CNN will “continue to cover” Trump despite the White House banReporting from the UN, Kaitlan Collins spoke with CNN's Wolf Blitzer and shared about her interaction with Trump at the UN. Collins said that CNN "never said" that it would not cover the POTUS. She stressed:"We will continue to cover the president, despite their efforts to block CNN from accessing the White House grounds, as we are currently fighting in court. And as that plays out, though, of course, what we are watching here are the headlines from the United Nations when it comes to the president's speech."Earlier on Monday, CNN, along with MS Now and Politico, issued a joint statement, sharing that they filed a lawsuit against the blockade of their White House access. The statement read:"This morning, we notified the government that we are filing a lawsuit today to protect our First Amendment rights and defend the principle that the government does not decide what the press reports or publishes. Without notice or process, the White House revoked our journalists' credentials because it objected to our reporting.
