Nicolas Cage’s next action movie gets November release date after U.S. rights deal

Nicolas Cage's upcoming action movie Best Pancakes In The County is less than two months away from its release. The movie has landed a November 20, 2026, release date following a U.S. rights deal secured by Independent Film Company.

Written and directed by Ken Sanzel, famous for The Replacement Killers, Lone Hero, and Scar City, the movie stars Academy Award winner Nicolas Cage alongside Galaxy Quest star Justin Long. Other cast members include Brandon Mychal Smith, Lauren German, Shelley Hennig, Tetiana Dar, Ravi Patel, Kelly Greyson, Jaylen Moore, Eddie Martinez, Chick Bernhard, Keraun Harris, Sadie Scott, Rosie Bernhard, Skyler Millicano, Andrey Grouchko, and Michael Sirow.

According to Deadline, Eduard Osipov from Beno Films and Mark Ward from Independent Film Company handled the deal and made the agreement.

Best Pancakes In The County, starring Leaving Las Vegas and The Rock star Nicolas Cage, takes place over one night at a small-town diner, where a con man with a troubled past, rogue federal agents, and a waitress with secrets all end up in the middle of a deadly standoff.

The situation only gets more complicated and difficult after they have to figure out whom they can trust and whom they cannot in order to survive. According to the synopsis, some loyalties could also be tested as tensions rise between the characters. The shooting of the movie took place in Arkansas, per Deadline.

However, this is not the first time Cage has worked with Sanzel. The two previously worked on the Kill Chain, released in 2019, and will be collaborating again after almost seven years on this action thriller titled Best Pancakes In The County.

In the movie, Cage plays the character of the S.O.B., while Justin Long plays Cookie. Cage's character isn't an ordinary person but a criminal who is clever, unpredictable, and has his own way of doing things, which makes it interesting.

A statement on Deadline describes him as:

"The S.O.B., an eccentric and cunning criminal caught in the escalating confrontation"

Speaking about the movie, Mark Ward reportedly called Best Pancakes In The County an entertaining and unusual film that suits Nicolas Cage. He also praised director Ken Sanzel for creating a tense and unpredictable thriller with a strong cast, adding:

"We can’t wait for audiences to experience the chaos this November."

The director also praised Nicolas Cage's performance in a statement reported by Deadline, saying that working with the actor again allowed him to create a character who could be "funny, dangerous and completely unpredictable from one moment to the next." He further added that Cage took the character in more unexpected directions than he had imagined.

Ken Sanzel also explained that the movie turns an ordinary diner into a place filled with people who have their own hidden agendas, while the pressure keeps building around them. He further praised IFC for understanding the movie's fast and fun style and said he was excited to bring it to audiences.
