Clayface actor Tom Rhys Harries appeared on the latest episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live! to promote the upcoming DCU body horror. In that interview, the two discussed the Welsh actor's country, his parents, driving in LA, and his upcoming DCU project. The highlight of the interview was when Tom Rhys Harries described what we can expect from the project.Harries revealed what we could expect from Matt Hagen in this movie. When host Jimmy Kimmel asked the actor if his version of Clayface would battle the Caped Crusader. Tom Rhys Harries's response was:"Let's see. He's very strong. I think you know Batman. I'm not sure Batman would stand a chance against Clay."Kimmel humorously went on to say that Harries was already throwing shade at Batman, prompting the audience to laugh. Can Clayface really take on The Dark Knight? View this post on Instagram Instagram PostWell, no. The shape-shifting supervillain can be a challenge for Batman initially, but the Caped Crusader's strategic mind could help the hero. Batman: The Animated Series and other DCAU shows famously included The Dark Knight battling Clayface multiple times; every time the Caped Crusader came on top, except for the first time they fought.Fans especially pointed at the supervillain's history with the Caped Crusader throughout different mediums like the animated series and comics in the YouTube comment section. One fan pointed out that the Welsh actor was feeling nervous, and said:"Aw he seems nervous but i cant blame him, cant wait to see clayface!"Another millennial, who grew up on the acclaimed animated series, said:"Anyone that watched the 90's Batman Animated Series knows this is an amazing character. And if you are unaware, you are already on YouTube. Look the character up."Another DC fan who seems to be well-versed in both comics and animated shows described Clayface as an "underrated villain":YouTube Comment | Image Via: YouTube/Jimmy Kimmel LiveWhat's happening with the DCU Batman? The DCU Batman | Image Via: YouTube/DCThe Batman of this continuity remains uncast. The DCU project featuring the character, The Brave and the Bold, was announced back in 2023. We saw a silhouette of the hero in Creature Commandos, and Lanterns Episode 6 mentioned him, but we don't know what the costume looks like. But that hasn't stopped fans from speculating that the upcoming DCU body horror will finally feature the Batman, setting up The Brave and the Bold. It got further traction this week, as Tom Rhys Harries said this when he and Naomi Ackie were asked if their characters are aware of the Caped Crusader:“We have footage... and I don’t know how much I can say. But yes, we had discussions about that at length.”It should be noted that Harries' comments don't mean that the DCU Batman has been cast. He could simply mean that we could see an outline much like the hero's cameo in Creature Commandos. Apart from Harries, James Watkins also addressed The Dark Knight's presence in Clayface:"We want the world [of Gotham] to be corrupt. We want it to be a city where litter doesn't get picked up, where there's a sense of decay, where there's dirt, where the canyons of these places are overbearing."Then, Watkins further added:"You're in a city called Gotham. So I guess you feel the shadow of the Bat inherently. Because of the nature of where you are."Therefore, we may catch a glimpse of this continuity's Batman soon. Some rumors have suggested that the caped crusader could appear in the post-credits scene. The DCU body horror movie releases next week on October 23, 2026.
