Former US President Barack Obama took several serious digs at President Donald Trump during his campaign rallies in Detroit supporting Michigan Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed. He mocked Trump's recent White House renovations, accused him of grifting, and defended El-Sayed against attacks on his faith and background.

A new clip has now been posted by Abdul El-Sayed, which has gone viral online. In the clips, Obama is seen tossing his mic after the end of a speech in one of the campaign appearances for El-Sayed.

Obama tossed the mic after taking digs at Trump

On October 24, 2026, at a rally in Detroit, Michigan, for Democratic Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed, Obama pointed out some of the Trump administration decisions he did not agree with. While news of what he had said at the rally had already been discussed, a new clip posted by Abdul El-Sayed reveals that those comments were followed by a mic toss before Obama left the stage.

As posted by Abdul El-Sayed on X, the clip shows the crowd cheering as Obama left the stage after his speech. He appeared satisfied with his words, and tossed his mic to someone who was standing at the side of the stage. This moment has gone viral online because it came after Obama's digs at the president.

The words he had spoken to mock the president had gained a lot of support from Democrats, but this clip has made him cool all over again. Besides these words, the toss itself appears to be a dig at the president. Netizens who aren't fans of the president are not only impressed by Obama's mic toss but also rejoicing in it.

Before the mic toss, Obama had talked about Trump's renovation of the White House. As CBS News reported, Obama expressed that he thought the president seemed very focused on home renovations and suggested that he should be on HGTV.

Moreover, Obama also questioned the excessive use of gold in the renovations. As Reuters reported, Obama also said:

"We have never seen a president excel in straight-up grifting, on your dime, like this... Never seen a president so intent on selling favors like this ... Now the party seems to stand for corrupt government, or inept government, or no government."

As CNBC reported, Obama addressed the attacks on Abdul El-Sayed made by his opponents, saying:

“We have seen this movie before... I starred in it... This stuff didn’t work on me. Not in Michigan. It’s not going to work on Abdul.”

The new clip of Obama tossing the mic thus looks like an added dig at Trump besides the ones Obama made verbally.
