After playing Bear in Obsession, Michael Johnston is rumored to be heading from one wild story to another with The Mummy movie. The news was first reported by The InSneider, and later confirmed by Deadline, stating that the actor is "in early talks" for Universal Pictures' next Mummy movie.

However, viewers should take the news with a grain of salt for now, as neither the production nor Johnston himself has officially confirmed the news. If the news turns out to be true, viewers will see him alongside Brendan Fraser as Rick O'Connell, Rachel Weisz as Evelyn Carnahan, and John Hannah as Jonathan Carnahan in the upcoming Mummy movie.

The upcoming Mummy movie will be directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, who have previously worked on movies like Abigail, Ready or Not, and Scream. They are reported to be working with the writer David Coggeshall, who is famous for The Family Plan, Orphan: First Kill, and Prey.

Michael Johnston recently appeared in the hit movie Obsession, playing Bear, a character who is in love with Nikki and uses One Wish Willow to make Nikki love him the most in the world. The movie was loved by the audience for its dark theme, with Bear making one stupid decision after another, leading to the death of his friends and ultimately him. While he didn't appear in any dark horror-themed character himself, his role was pretty serious in Obsession, which came with strong screen presence.

Additionally, Johnston's role in Obsession showed that he can handle emotional and dramatic scenes. If he joins The Mummy, his ability to balance emotions with action could help him fit well into the franchise.

Michael Johnston already has a connection with Universal Pictures, as his hit movie Obsession, directed by Curry Barker, was released by Focus Features, a label owned by Universal. A role in The Mummy would mark another project under the same company umbrella. However, the casting has not been officially confirmed by Universal Pictures as of now.

Michael Johnston is not the only Obsession star being linked to a big franchise, as his co-star Inde Navarrette recently revealed that she met with Jake Schreier. When asked if she would like to work in a Marvel movie, she said she would, showing interest in joining the MCU.
