UFC fighter Sean Strickland recently referred to Bad Bunny using the homophobic slur "fag*ot" while calling out the National Football League (NFL) for choosing him for the Super Bowl.

This happened at a press conference when Sean Strickland was discussing his upcoming fight. According to a clip shared by X account of Jack Unheard on February 18, he ranted about the Puerto Rican rapper’s recent Super Bowl LX halftime performance and slammed the NFL for bringing him in as a “g*y foreigner.”

He said:

“Dude this is so crazy. This is America now. Like back in the day dude the NFL was the f*****g standard of being a f*****g man and now every year they all get around a table and say you know guys how do we f*****g ruin this sport? How do we g*y it up?”

He then added:

“Well I’ll tell you what..why don’t we bring a g*y foreigner who doesn’t speaks f****g English and have him performing? The NFL is like f*****g pathetic these days.”

Netizens react as UFC fighter Sean Strickland calls out the NFL for bringing Bad Bunny at Super Bowl

UFC fighter Sean Strickland’s rant against the NFL and Bad Bunny, where he called the Puerto Rican artist a “f*****” and accuse NFL of trying to “g*y it up” the sport, has drawn mixed reactions from the online community. His unfiltered tirade against them, which was apparently from a press conference, was captured in clips and circulated widely on social media.

“News flash, Bad Bunny is Puerto Rican. He’s got an American passport. He’s as American as Kid Rock.”

A user said.

“All Americans were going to watch the superbowl regardless. For the past handful of years the NFL has been having games in South America. Bad bunny was the most selling artist of the year. It's about money people, that's it. The 4th most watched superbowl half time ever by the way. Looks like they weren't wrong.”

A second user wrote.

“Quite a total dummy. Bad Bunny is an American citizen, not a foreigner. And the NFL is a billion dollar business that is going global. Oh wait already is global. Viewership is killing all other sports. So you're on the outside looking in you lose her.”

A third added.

However, some agreed with Sean Strickland’s commentary on Bad Bunny and the NFL.

“Haven’t watched a single game since they started kneeling for the anthem and playing other “anthems” 1st. Same for NBA.”

A user noted.

“He has his own way of getting things across but the fact remains, he's saying what the majority are thinking. The NFL have become a bunch of "Bad Bunny Swifties"”

Another person noted.

“takes real courage to finally call the NFL out. Regardless of the accuracy of what Strickland said, the reality is this: the NFL’s core fan base isn’t lining up for Bad Bunny. Choosing him for the halftime show feels bizarrely out of touch with the audience that actually watches the games.”

Someone else commented.

Besides Sean Strickland, the reggaeton star's Super Bowl halftime performance drew criticism from many high-profile figures. President Donald Trump labeled the performance “absolutely terrible” and “an affront to the greatness of America.”

Critics raised objections to the Spanish-language set, perceiving it as “anti-American.” Miami Member of Congress Maria Elvira Salazar was also among the critics who, as a Cuban-American congresswoman, posted on X shortly after the show, calling it a “very big opportunity lost.” She tweeted about how the show was not inclusive but exclusive.

Former ESPN anchor Sage Steele called the choice “disturbing” and “disappointing,” accusing the "King of Latin Trap" of leading with “hate” and being “anti-American.”
