The mystery surrounding UFOs and other unidentified flying objects has once again captured public attention after newly released Pentagon files shed light on a series of UAPs (Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena) and unexplained aerial encounters involving U.S. military personnel.

The fourth batch of files, released on Friday by agencies like the FBI, the Pentagon, NASA, the Energy Department and the CIA, contains 14 documents, 19 videos, 4 audio files and 3 images.

The Pentagon posted the new UFO files on its official website as:

''Today, the Department of War is publishing the fourth release of declassified and historical Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAP) files as part of the Presidential Unsealing and Reporting System for UAP Encounters (PURSUE).''

The recently released files contain mysterious sightings, dating back to 1949 and Pilot testimonies detailing mysterious flying objects.

More on this in our story.

Notable mysterious sightings in Pentagon’s UFO files

One of the documents released by the Energy Department details the intrusion of an unidentified object into the airspace over a nuclear weapons facility known as Pantex near Amarillo, Texas, in September 2015. The files also include the account of two officers who chased this object after the facility was placed in lockdown. The report stated that while the officers were unable to catch the object, they used binoculars to assess it. It made no sound and the duo was unable to identify any propulsion system on it. The object reportedly drifted north.

According to the Pentagon UFO Files, a notable incident occurred over the Atlantic Ocean in 2020, when a dark, maroon-coloured object (approximately 12-15 ft in height) was recorded in video footage. According to the testimony of the weapons systems officer, the object was large and structured like a deformed balloon but the officers were unable to identify it. The report, known as a "range fouler debrief,'' stated that the UAP traveled with the wind.

Another record dates back to a 1949 conference in Los Alamos, New Mexico, where the top scientists failed to explain the sightings of "green fireballs" and orb swarming over the nuclear facility. While many officials theorized that they were meteorites (entering Earth's atmosphere), one astronomer noted that nothing like this has ever been recorded in the case of a meteor drop.

The most recent event recorded in the Pentagon's UFO Files came in 2025 near China, under the military's Indo-Pacific Command. The accompanying video shows the military sensor capturing a ''six-pointed star" over the Yellow Sea and an unidentified object over the East China Sea.

Pilot testimony about a 2019 incident in the Pentagon’s UFO files

A notable debrief in the Pentagon’s UFO files was about the 2019 incident over the Eastern US, when an aviator and four personnel documented a UAP.

The aviator's testimony reads as follows:

"I noticed an object with flight characteristics unlike anything I had seen in my 28 years of performing for the [Air Force] and Navy.''

The report continued:

"A small object was below us and appeared to be traveling in a straight line opposite our direction at high speed. I tracked it for ~10-15 seconds before we turned on the recorder to provide the attached video.''

The Pilot's testimony concluded that the UAP appeared rectangular and remained unidentified, even by officers with equal or more experience in the field. The records further state that the aviator tried to zoom in (to achieve a higher resolution) but the UAP took off at high speed.

In a statement, spokesman Sean Parnell has revealed that the Department of War is currently working on the next release of the UAP files.

The newly released files add another layer to the long-running mystery surrounding unexplained aerial phenomena, offering fresh accounts. For now, the latest disclosures raise more questions than they answer, ensuring the search for the truth continues.
