United States Defense and War Secretary Pete Hegseth’s father, Brian Hegseth, is defending him amid midterm election results and calls for impeachment.“The @SecWar has a pretty good defender. And a fantastic record,” Brian wrote on X while reposting a White House video of his son’s records. The White House video post, captioned “Stand. Fight. Defend the Republic,” showed compiled clips of Pete Hegseth from over the years. In one, he took credit for the capture of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and in the next, he celebrated Operation Epic Fury, calling it “historic and overwhelming victory on the battlefield.”“Pete Hegseth has been unbelievable at what he is doing. There’s nobody better,” Trump also appeared saying in the 1-minute and 22-second video. The Defense Secretary was also seen taking credit for deploying federal and military forces to “secure” the southern border and claimed there were “effectively zero illegals” crossing the border. The video also showed Pete Hegseth cheering for the rise in recruitment across U.S. military branches of “strong patriots” as opposed to “weak weirdos.”“We will not back down. We will forge the new arsenal of freedom without partners in industry and private sector… Don’t listen to the noise. Just stay focused. Our commander-in-chief is steady at the wheel. We’re not defenders anymore. We are warriors,” Pete, 46, was heard saying.Brian Hegseth has been a longtime vocal supporter of his son and the Trump administration.Exploring Brian Hegseth’s defense further amid Pete Hegseth’s recent messageWhile his father has been defending him online, Pete Hegseth also posted a lengthy video message on X titled, “At the War Department: We Stand. We Fight. We Defend the Republic.”In it, he stood in front of the Department of War building and said that under the Trump administration, they had “never been afraid” to “lead the way.”“Just like the President, we don’t back down and that especially applies now. The next few months and years are critical for our department and our republic. This is about the President’s America First agenda; this is about our department’s peace through strength agenda,” Pete said. The War Secretary insisted that under Trump’s leadership, his department “restored” its “core function.” These efforts include war-fighting, ripping out DEI, firing failed leaders, restoring deterrence globally, and reviving recruitment across all military branches.“We are rebuilding our military and defense industrial base, bigger, better, and stronger than ever before,” Pete Hegseth stated. He then posed the rhetorical question of why Democrats and “deep state radicals” hated his department and the Trump administration.“Because we tore down their sacred cows, one by one and without apology… Diversity is not our strength; our unity is. Men and women are not the same, but in the military they must be held to the same standard… Patriot extremism is not a thing. Patriots are now in control,” the War Sec stated.Pete Hegseth doubled down on his previous attacks on the LGBTQ+ community and climate change advocates and defended “white rage” and the “faith of our Founding Fathers.”“Generals work for elected civilians, not for the Pentagon bureaucracy. The press is free in America but not free to roam our classified spaces here at the Pentagon. Narco-terrorists should die, not be caught and released. Our allies should share the burden, not be burdens themselves. Sealing the border and mass deportations are military functions, and when we say Iran will not have a nuclear weapon, we actually mean it,” he added.Hegseth mentioned that regardless of how people felt about the war against Iran, it was “courageous and historic” and helped “rebuild” the military. He claimed that to continue defending U.S. interests, the Department of War must be “funded” with “generational investment” and a “reconciliation bill of at least $350 billion” to keep the country “way ahead in the world.”“We need every vote from every patriotic member of Congress. You see, they attack me… us, because we are effective. It’s not gonna work. We won’t back down. We put America and the warfighter first, always and without apology. And that continues in the lame duck Congress, especially our vitally important budget,” Pete claimed.Hegseth blamed the Biden administration and former Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin for taking the United States to a “terrible place” and claimed he and the Trump administration had to “fight” every day to “restore” it.“We ended the weird and the woke and elevated patriots and strength and we have done so, as I said, without hesitation… Our commander-in-chief demands it and we deliver it. Peace through strength,” Pete Hegseth stated. The Defense Secretary further claimed that the “other side” is “obsessed” with him and that a “disgruntled, defeated congressman” and his “Democratic allies” have launched “sham articles of impeachment” against him, just like they tried with President Trump twice.“Their policies don’t work, so their obsession with political theater disguised as power drives them to try to destroy their opponent. It’s all about the politics of personal destruction. Didn’t work against President Trump and won’t work with me. You can rest assured of that,” Hegseth stated. He ended his message by telling the troops to never hesitate, ignore the noise, focus on doing real things, and stay the course. Pete praised Trump’s leadership and reminded everyone that in the “service” of the nation, the President “literally took a bullet.”“I assure you we have only begun to fight. We are more determined, more resolute than ever to finish what we have started. We will stand, we will fight, and we will defend this republic from all enemies, foreign and domestic,” Pete Hegseth concluded.Under his post, one user commented that it was a “performative political ad” paid for by U.S. taxpayers. Brian Hegseth defended his son by commenting:“Oh boy, I bet that video cost the taxpayers about $1.95.”In a follow-up post, Brian wrote that Pete “hasn’t been allowed to wage war since early summer” or “would have finished it already.” In a response to a Democratic congressman, Hegseth Sr. added that War Secretaries “don’t start wars” but “execute them.”Brian Hegseth reposted a conservative commentator’s post claiming Pentagon officials have “nothing but absolute respect” for Pete Hegseth. Another repost was from his other son, Phil Hegseth, who shared a picture of Pete in a DoD helicopter with the caption, “Stand. Fight. Defend the Republic.” Phil, like his brother, is a government official. He is a Pentagon liaison and a senior advisor to the Homeland Security secretary.Amid the Republican defeat in the midterm election, a Trump advisor told Axios that Pete Hegseth was “definitely on thin ice” due to the Iran war, poor bipartisan relationship with the U.S. Congress, and discrepancies in military briefings to the POTUS.Another White House official told Fox News Digital:“Tuesday would have looked very different without the Iran war. I believe you’ll ultimately see President Trump hold Pete Hegseth accountable and that will play out in the lame duck.”A Republican lawmaker told Fox News Digital that Hegseth was “scr*wed,” while Representative Thomas Massie (R-Ky) said he intended to “force” a vote on impeaching the War Sec when Congress returned, unless Hegseth resigned first. However, the White House has defended Hegseth. Senior deputy press secretary Lauren Bis shared in a statement:“As the President has said, he's willing to work with anyone to continue delivering victories for hardworking Americans. If Democrats choose to pursue sham investigations and radical left policies, they are choosing to work against the American people.”Chief Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell echoed a similar sentiment.“Secretary Hegseth will not back down or be deterred by politicians seeking to score partisan points or launch phony investigations where no wrongdoing exists. The Department of War has followed the law and our Secretary will continue to stand and fight every single day to support and defend the Constitution, lead our troops, and protect America.”Meanwhile, Trump told ABC News reporters that he was getting calls to remove Pete Hegseth but had “every intention” of keeping him and that the Defense Secretary was doing a “good job.”
