Model Presley Gerber, the son of actress-supermodel Cindy Crawford and tequila business mogul Rande Gerber, died at a California-based rehab facility on September 20. He was 27. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed the news but did not reveal the cause of death.Presley Gerber battled addiction, prescription medication dependency, and mental health issues. He detailed his struggles in a December 2025 Instagram video.“I'd like doctors to be like, ‘Take this three times a day’… but every psychiatrist I’ve had — I’ve had 15 — are like, ‘Here's 20 medications and take this if you feel like this… and I'm like, ‘No, don't give me that much leeway.’ I need some direction,” he stated in the video.Back then, Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber’s eldest child further mentioned:“The doctors say a lot of different things, so it's kind of scary, but hopefully between my research and their research… and God, we can figure this out. The things that scare me are the things you need to take… if you don't take them, something not good happens. And there's a spectrum there on how intense the withdrawal from certain medications is.”Presley Gerber’s death was also announced by his parents’ representative, Allie Jenkins, who asked for “privacy” on behalf of the family during this “very difficult and painful time,” in an email to The Guardian.More on Presley Gerber’s mental health and addiction strugglesIn his since-deleted Instagram video, Presley Gerber was seen sitting in a sauna and addressing his viewers. He began by saying:“I feel like honesty is the best policy… I have a feeling that if I say all of this, a lot of people will at least know that there's someone else going through it.”Presley explained he was on medications, including Xanax, Valium, and Buprenorphine. He shared that he took Xanax when his panic attacks were “really, really bad” and Valium “a little bit in the morning.”“The benzos have been fluctuating up and down depending on what's been going on in my life. Unfortunately, I've had a lot of loss in many different forms recently, so that is not an excuse, but it's the reason why I am where I'm at now… I don’t know if it's a little bit or a lot; who f**king knows at this point anymore.”While he didn’t have “as much direction” as he would have liked, Presley said he was hanging in there and focusing on getting better. He also mentioned that quitting alcohol and working out helped improve his mental health. Additionally, Gerber mentioned he was looking for a community that would be a “good influence” on him.“As I've grown up in Hollywood, there are a lot of people around me that I love to death, but right now I try not to be around them,” he explained.However, Presley Gerber hoped that his video reached people in “many ways.” He assured others like him that they were “not alone” and hoped that they found people “willing to help”.In a 2023 episode of the podcast Studio 22, Presley Gerber stated:“Mental health is an issue. It is such a big part of my life. It’s a 24/7 job, and there’s so much to it… That’s really what I want to do: help people, whether you’re depressed or you’re struggling with something that is having a negative effect on your body. I mean it could be anything, and there’s no judgment.”Cindy Crawford’s son was taken into custody for speeding in his Tesla and driving under the influence in Beverly Hills in early 2019. He was sentenced to three years of probation, a mandatory DUI program, and a couple of days of community service. The following year, Page Six reported that his then-girlfriend Cameron Rorrison dropped him off at a drug-testing facility to complete the DUI program.In 2020, Presley Gerber got a face tattoo reading “misunderstood” and explained via Instagram Live:“If I thought this was going to ruin my face or I didn't want this, I wouldn't have done it. I think that's a pretty obvious thing. So, can you just move past that? It says 'misunderstood' because that's how I felt my entire life.”He added his mom was “supportive” of his lifestyle. Later, PEOPLE reported Presley got his tattoo removed.Among other troubles in his life were a mountain bike accident and a breakup with model Lexi Woods in 2022.Cindy Crawford shared a July social media post that she was “proud of the man” her son had become and would always remember him as her “little boy.” The post featured a photo of Presley Gerber as a young boy.Earlier this month, his sister and model Kaia Gerber also spoke about Presley’s “decade-long struggle with drug addiction” with Vogue.“When something like that happens in a family, it kind of levels everyone. I think that’s also why I started to self-identify as the easy one and never wanted to ask for help. Because it felt like too much to have two children who were needing,” Kaia stated.Presley Gerber was signed with IMG Models at age fifteen.
