Texas politician and content creator Isiah Martin reacted to Ukraine’s drone attack on Russian data centers. On October 11, Martin wrote on Threads:

“Pretty funny that after Ukraine blew up a Russian bot farm, a bunch of Trump Accounts went [zipper-mouth emoji].”

American actress, producer, writer, and host Yvette Nicole Brown also shared her reaction on the platform. She wrote:

“Now that Zelenskyy has taken out the Russian bot farm data center, we can have REAL conversations with each other and realize that WE haven't been fighting each other all this time. We have been fighting against bot farm propaganda coming from AI images that look like real people. Soak it in while you can. This is pre-2016 social media right now.”

Native American screenwriter, musical artist, cartoonist, and activist Kelly Lynne D’Angelo also weighed in.

“They didn’t just lose bots. It’s banks. Tomorrow, whatever dark a** money was stored in those servers is gone too. I’m talking crypto. I’m talking this hitting the Epstein Class. Zelenskyy just pulled a W we don’t even fully understand yet,” D’Angelo wrote.

All you need to know about Ukraine’s attack on Russian data centers

On Sunday, Ukraine attacked the third data center belonging to Yandex, dubbed “Russia’s Google,” in Vladimir, east of Moscow. According to the company’s statement issued via Telegram, no one was injured, but the damage “completely suspended” operations and made its AI chatbot, smart home, and other services unavailable to users.

Yandex, which also offers food-ordering and ride-share services, said that it was “very difficult to predict” when the services would be back online. According to Cloudflare, the AI bot traffic of the Yandex network fell to 0.4 percent. NetBlocks further reported that Yandex Cloud and Yandex LLC dropped to 30 percent and 63 percent, respectively.

Earlier in the week, Ukraine struck two other Yandex data centers, including in Sasovo and Kaluga, on October 8 and 9. According to Reuters, the attacks were a direct response to the Russian drone strike on Kyiv data centers in September, which has left thousands of Ukrainians without mobile or internet services.

On October 9, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy shared a 30-second clip on X and wrote in the caption:

“Another strike on a Russian oil refinery in Omsk – one of the major refineries – as well as on the Ukhta oil refinery, 1,900 kilometers from Ukraine’s state border. The target in Ukhta was hit by An-196 RS drones, which can fly about 2,500 kilometers, while FP-6 drones (modified FP-1s) were used against the Omsk refinery the day before.”

Zelenskyy added:

“We continue to respond to Russia’s attacks on Ukraine, and we’re doing so with high precision. Another data center was hit as well – our symmetrical response. An important display of accuracy by our warriors. Glory to Ukraine!”

Reuters reported that the attack on the Sasovo facility targeted two of Yandex’s three supercomputers used for training its YandexGPT AI model.

Meanwhile, local Russian outlet Meduza reported that Russian users were having trouble accessing websites, the Ivi video streaming app, digital banking service T-Bank, a dating app, a self-publishing book site, a real estate platform, a Russian Premier League’s soccer club's website, and the government-owned Russian Railways app.

Since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, both sides have been regularly trading missile and drone attacks targeting the power grid infrastructure of major cities, transportation systems, and more.

Earlier this year, Ukraine attacked warehouses of Russian companies Ozon and Wildberries, equivalent to the American e-commerce platform Amazon. Zelenskyy’s forces have also targeted Russian oil refineries, military bases, and supply lines, including in the Sea of Azov and Black Sea.

On October 5 and 6, two commercial ships were shot down in the Black Sea in the exclusive economic zones of Romania and Bulgaria. However, the Ukrainian President attributed the strikes to Russia.

Amid the attack on three Yandex data centers, the Ukrainian State Emergency Service reported that six people were wounded in Russian attacks on four districts in the Dnipropetrovsk region. An additional 20 people, including four children, died in Zaporizhzhia.

Data centers first became war targets when Iranian drones shot down more than one of Amazon's data centers in Bahrain and the UAE following the USA and Israel’s attack on Iran in February 2026.

The recent attack on the Yandex data center came hours after U.S. President Donald Trump warned that Ukraine should “d*mn well stop” knocking down Russia’s energy infrastructure, so that Moscow could release diesel to the international market.
