MS Now anchor Lawrence O'Donnell reportedly slammed Donald Trump and said that the president had accidentally criticized his own Defense Secretary, Pete Hegseth, when he announced that government leakers should be executed by firing squad. The anchor played footage of Trump saying,

"Somebody leaked some sleazebag. They ought to go to jail and be shot for the rest of their life. They should be in jail."

Lawrence alleged that Trump's mind didn't work, and so he didn't know that he was condemning Hegseth to death when he said 'leakers should be shot.' Lawrence even described the activities of the president as 'ramblings of a madman.'

The anchor alleged that Pete Hegseth had become the biggest leaker in American government history when he accidentally sent war plans by text to a reporter. Later, Jeffrey Goldberg published the details in The Atlantic with a written explanation that Hegseth had texted him the plan at 11:44 a.m. The document contained exact information about weapon packages, chosen targets, and scheduled times.

Lawrence O'Donnell mentioned that Donald Trump accidentally and indirectly declared that Pete Hegseth should go to jail and even be shot. The anchor explained that Trump's thinking often appears confused, and therefore, he didn't realize he was effectively calling for Hegseth's death when he repeated his view. The anchor said,

"Since this was Donald Trump talking and his mind does not work, he did not know that he was condemning Pete Hegseth to death today when he said, quote, leakers should be, in my opinion, leakers should be shot. They should be shot."

After playing the video of Trump, Lawrence added,

"It is unclear what year he is talking about. But if you try to make sense of the ramblings of a madman who is apparently facing cognitive impairment to the point that he can't even say the word cognitive as he tried to today, you have to guess at what he's actually talking about."

Lawrence explained that if the reference mentioned in the video was to last year's bombing mission, where Trump claimed he destroyed Iran's nuclear program and removed any future need for war, then his statement was false. The anchor further emphasized that the story about the New York Times supposedly revealing the exact timing of the mission was also fabricated because no such disclosure occurred.

What did Donald Trump say in the footage played by Lawrence O'Donnell?

In the video, the president said that the United States sent B-2 bombers and described them as powerful aircraft with large wings capable of carrying heavy bombs while remaining completely stealthy. Trump claimed that the planes flew over Iran at one o'clock in the morning, but Iran never saw them because they were undetected. The president said,

"We sent those beautiful B-2, the wings, you know, the wings that carry very large bombs and totally stealth. And they went there and they were waiting for them. I mean, Iran was waiting for them and never got to see them. One o'clock in the morning, they flew over."

Trump alleged that someone leaked classified details and called the person a 'sleazebag' who deserved prison and punishment for life. He insisted that the leak revealed the exact departure time at 12:07 from Missouri and the arrival time, and that information appeared in outlets like the New York Times and CNN.
