Ray J has addressed the viral allegations of faking bleeding eyes during his Valentine's Day performance earlier this month. The singer was accused of faking bleeding eyes by photographer Tommy Nard II, who was working at the event. Nard II told People Magazine:
"He loves the camera. He loves the attention. Anybody that knows him, it’s all theatrical. I seen him literally put on the fake blood and things like that, and go out there with the crowd, which is very shocking that he’d do something like that."
Ray J has responded to said accusations, stating in a Facebook video on February 19, 2026, that fans should forget what they were hearing online. He also thanked them for their prayers and saluted them:
"I want to thank everybody out here for showing us love. I’m on my way to Atlanta, and then I’m on my way to L.A. But I just want to thank everybody out here. Forget what they’re talking about. Forget what you’re hearing. Thank you for your prayer. Thank you for your love. And again, all we can do is get better. Salute, I love you."
Ray J's manager also responded to the fake bleeding allegations
Ray J's addressal of the allegations comes after Melinda Santiago, Ray J's manager, also firmly refuted the allegations that the singer had been faking his bleeding eyes. Santiago made a statement to People Magazine on February 18, 2026, pointing out that the singer had been in and out of the hospital in recent days. She also said that some of the medicines that the singer was taking have side effects:
"The bottom line is Ray J has been in and out of the hospital dealing with health and heart issues. That is a fact. Another fact is that the meds that Ray is on have some side effects."
Santiago added that the whole suggestion of fake bleeding is absurd and that the videographer was not part of her team. She stated that she would be forced to cut off all backstage access moving forward if such incidents of what she called "opportunistic people" trying to take advantage of her artists did not stop:
"It's absurd that a local videographer (not our team ) would want to clout chase for five min of fame off of Ray J name and play about Ray being sick is sick in itself. My job is to protect my artists backstage from opportunistic people. If we can't do that, then I’ll be cutting off all backstage access moving forward."
Ray J performed at the Shreveport Municipal Auditorium in Shreveport, Louisiana, on February 14, 2026. During the performance, the singer was seen wearing a chest patch, as well as the aforementioned bleeding through the eyes.
This situation created concerns among netizens regarding the singer's health, which he has publicly stated is in a dire state. The singer posted a video on Instagram in which he said that his heart was only working in 25% capacity and that his health had deteriorated due to his daily abuse of drugs and alcohol.
The singer made another post later on in which he said he was on several medicines and that he was being evaluated for a pacemaker or a defibrillator placement in the near future.
