The Israeli-American physicist Avi Loeb reportedly linked UFOs to the mystery of the universe. Loeb said that the idea he finds most convincing as an answer to Fermi's famous question, "Where is everybody?" is that aliens might already be here on Earth, but humans have not realized it yet.

He stated that humanity is really ignorant about most of the universe's constituents and further pointed out that these unknown elements may involve technologies far beyond the ones currently available to the government.

Avi Loeb on Fermi Paradox:

"Really ignorant."

NewsNation interviewed Loeb to find out the proposed solution about why UFOs might not be communicating with humanity. The Frank B. Baird Jr. Professor of Science at Harvard University and the leader of the UAP Science Advisory Council was asked to separate science fact from science fiction and explain the range of ideas being discussed.

UFO theory explained: Fermi Paradox analysis suggests why Earth may seem isolated

Loeb explained that the idea he finds most convincing about Fermi’s famous puzzle is that aliens could already be present on Earth, but humans have not yet noticed or understood their existence.

He pointed out that this is not surprising because modern science has existed for about 100 years, starting with the discovery of quantum mechanics. In contrast, most stars in the universe are billions of years older than the Sun. He said,

"We're really ignorant about most of the constituents in the universe, including technologies well beyond what we have."

According to the theory he explained, advanced civilizations had far more time than humans to build technology and science that go beyond human understanding. He emphasized that humanity itself admits a major gap in knowledge because about 95% of the universe's total mass remains unknown to human beings.

UFO: Loeb set an example to explain the theory

The physicist used a simple example to describe the limitations of human perception about the universe. He said that if a cave dweller discovered a cell phone, the person would likely describe it as a strange kind of rock because the cave dweller would not understand its true purpose.

He further stressed that humanity is in a similar position and everyone needs to learn so much. According to him, people should remain humble and actively search for evidence. He noted that even the U.S. government admits to observing phenomena they cannot explain.

On August 31, he held the first meeting of the UAP Science Advisory Council at the Office of the Director of National Intelligence. There, he reported that the government has already identified objects it does not understand, but it is interested in figuring them out.
