A GoFundMe account was set up for Red Baron worker, Walt Z, who was harassed by social media pranksters. The pranksters had filmed the incident and posted it on social media. The clip has now gone viral and sparked widespread public outrage because the pranksters were unnecessarily harassing a man who was just trying to do his job.

The GoFundMe account that was set up for Walt Z, has now crossed $440k in donations.

Walt Z's GoFundMe crosses $440k after he was harassed

As the viral video reveals, an online prankster had approached Walt Z while he was restocking Red Baron frozen pizza shelves and asked for the time. When Walt took out his phone to check the time, the prankster held a phone up to his phone, and played a pre-recorded Apple Pay sound effect and claimed that he had just stolen money from Walt. The person filming the video said:

“Thank you, bro, I just took $10.”

Walt initially tried to remain calm before realizing he was being filmed and lost his temper. He confronted the streamer, explaining that he was already having a long, hard day, has four children at home, and was struggling to pay his mortgage. He said:

“It’s not a joke to me, OK? My life is hard enough as it is.”

The video not only went viral, but also drew heavy criticism online. As New York Post reported, the outrage prompted the creator to delete the footage. A GoFundMe campaign was then organized by a stranger named Luke Oakenshield to support Walt and help him out financially. The GoFundMe page describes the incident that happened and why the fundraiser was started. In the description, Oakenshield also states:

"This fundraiser is about standing up for a working person who is busting their butt and should not have to fear losing stability because someone wanted content and clicks. If you can, please donate and share to help push back against rage-bait harassment and show this worker that people care."

He continues:

"I do not know the worker personally and am actively searching for his contact information so I can make sure he receives the funds directly. Any aid in finding this man would be of the greatest help. I will not be receiving any of the money, as this is intended for the worker. God bless."

Now, Walt Z's GoFundMe has crossed $440k in donations. The number was $250k a while back, and as American Papa Bear™ reported on X, somebody named Higgsfield has donated a huge sum of $30k.

What happened to Walt Z was highly disturbing and unfortunate. Thankfully, people are standing up for him and helping him overcome his financial hurdles.
