Hollywood icon Ron Howard is currently trending after an AI-generated (Grok Imagine) video of him speaking about Donald Trump surfaced on X. Posted by MAGA influencer Val, aka @TrumpsHurricane, in it, Howard, 72, was quoted as saying:

“Trump is a self-serving, dishonest, morally bankrupt egomaniac who is hustling the U.S.”

After attributing the quote to the two-time Oscar-winning filmmaker-producer, @TrumpsHurricane wrote in the caption:

“What’s your response to him??”

Despite the post being a deepfake, many users perceived it as real and shared varied reactions. For instance, @RudyPac88487468 wrote in the comment section:

“I really think that Ron has TDS; he needs to stop hanging around with Dems.”

Many joined the conversation and shared similar reactions.

“Ron Coward bleating hate to keep getting free tickets to Hollywood events, because he is a huge failure,” a person wrote.
“You make great movies, ‘Opie,’ but you need to stay in your lane,” another person wrote.
“ALL politicians are the same no matter which side they are on. Best to please be quiet, Ron, and stick to what you are good at!” an individual commented.

Others continued to weigh in.

“Guess he was asleep for the four years when Biden was president!!” one individual stated.
“And here’s another one! Enough with the bs! Find something productive to do. Think before you scream random bullsh*t at people. It makes you look ridiculous!” a netizen wrote.
“Another has been! They are coming out of the woodwork thinking we care,” a user opined.

On New Year’s Day 2020, an X user tagged Ron Howard and asked:

“Question: why is the smallest of achievements heralded as better than the second coming of Jesus when it comes to Obama, but with Trump it is only negativity from Hollywood & Democrats?”

At the time, the Beautiful Mind director responded with a similar quote that has now gone viral with the AI video:

“In the entertainment industry, many who have known/worked w/ Trump think that while his reality show was fun and ran a long time, he's a self-serving, dishonest, morally bankrupt egomaniac who doesn't care about anything or anyone but his fame & bank account & is hustling the US.”

For those unaware, before joining politics, Trump used his real estate money to create a reality series called The Apprentice, which made him popular in the early 2000s.

Here is everything Ron Howard has said about Donald Trump

In September 2024, two months before the presidential election, Ron Howard sat down with Variety at the Toronto Film Festival Studio while promoting his movie, Eden. He was asked about the Trump-Vance campaign, especially because he adapted JD’s memoir Hillbilly Elegy into a 2020 Netflix film starring Gabriel Basso, Glenn Close and Amy Adams.

“I have been surprised and concerned by a lot of the rhetoric coming out of that campaign. There’s no version of me voting for Donald Trump to be President again, whoever the Vice President was. But given the experience that I had then 5,6 years ago. Yeah, I’d say that I’ve been surprised,” Ron Howard said.

The Music Man star continued:

“And look, we gotta get out and vote for whomever. But be thoughtful. Listen to what the candidates are saying today; that’s what’s really relevant: it’s who they are today. And make a decision, an informed one.”

Before that, in 2020, when his fans asked him to run against Donald Trump, Ron Howard replied via X:

“That is very flattering, but I assure you I am not qualified. We need qualified and dedicated elected leaders.”

Elsewhere, in June 2018, Trump tweeted:

“It is the Democrats’ fault for being weak and ineffective with Boarder Security and Crime. Tell them to start thinking about the people devastated by Crime coming from illegal immigration. Change the laws!”

Ron Howard mocked the POTUS' spelling and replied:

“Please learn to spell Mr President and please stop trying to frighten US citizens with distorted information and shock rhetoric. So 1930s fascist. Demagogue Disappointing.”

In November 2016, Donald posted that the “only BAD thing” about winning the presidency was that he didn’t have the time to “go through a long but winning trial on Trump U,” calling it “too bad.” Ron, once again, responded:

“Sorry, Mr. president-elect. Not buying this one and I doubt you would either, coming from anyone with your record of rationalization.”

A month before that, Ron Howard admitted in a BBC News interview that he “routinely characterizes” Trump as a “self-serving gas bag” and clarified that it’s an American expression which refers to a person who “won’t shut up.” The Hollywood Walk of Famer added that meeting Trump and having conversations with him made him realize that he is a “great, great self-promoter.”

However, Ron Howard admitted Trump “built his brand” but that it was not for him “as a voter.” He claimed the real estate tycoon was “selling” whatever Americans wanted to hear, but lacked both vision and leadership. When asked whether Trump could “do the job,” Ron said:

“I think he’d be overwhelmed and become a kind of a puppet or he’d push back and make mistakes.”

In the same interview, Ron Howard indirectly endorsed Hillary Clinton as a committed and intelligent leader worthy of being the POTUS.

While Mr Howard has been a longtime vocal critic of Trump, it remains unclear which side he’s really on. For instance, he tweeted in 2020 that the first time he cast his vote was for Republican candidate Richard Nixon in 1972.

However, the father of four also appeared in a ‘Funny or Die’ campaign promoting Barack Obama ahead of the 2008 presidential election.
