Rosie O’Donnell has praised Special Counsel Jack Smith amid his heated exchange with Senator Darline Graham, the late Lindsey Graham's sister, during a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on September 29, 2026.

O’Donnell’s alignment with Smith’s actions stems from her decades-long feud with President Donald Trump. She has consistently voiced her support for prosecutors and legal figures seeking to hold Trump accountable. She holds the premise that Trump has committed serious crimes and has frequently referred to him as a “lifelong criminal,” a “fraud,” and a “sexual abusing liar.”

These posts follow Darline Graham’s remarks against Jack Smith over obtaining call records of Lindsey Graham, adding that the anguish Smith caused her brother “makes me sick.” Her remarks backfired because Smith turned her attack into a public defense of her late brother.

Rosie O’Donnell re-shares Threads post amid Darline Graham and Jack Smith feud

Following the fiery exchange between Jack Smith and Darline Graham during a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing, Rosie O’Donnell re-shared a post shared by a Threads user (wick.edgreek) that said:

“Graham. Jack Smith is talking to her like a 5 year old...They are so st**** that they don't even know they're telling on themselves. 'That makes me sick'....girl, you're making us all sick.”

In the aforementioned post, the user calls Graham’s sister “stupid,” also referring to other Republicans making similar arguments. Their post stated that they are unintentionally exposing how weak and self-defeating their position is. They fired back at Graham, saying that her comments are what is actually sickening to watch.

The feud between Senator Darline Graham and former Department of Justice Special Counsel centers on Smith's seizure of phone records belonging to her late brother, Senator Lindsey Graham, as part of federal investigations into Donald Trump’s efforts related to the 2020 election and January 6.

Lindsey Graham passed away in July from an aortic dissection related to cardiovascular disease. Graham’s sister assumed a legislative role as interim senator following Lindsey Graham's death. According to a report in Politico, Graham blasted Smith during a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on September 29, in which the former special counsel was testifying. He was defending his past criminal investigations into Trump.

Graham argued that the phone records were held by Verizon, so her brother could not have tampered with them. Therefore, she argued that claiming any risk of evidence destruction made “absolutely no sense,” and said:

“It makes absolutely no sense that anyone would be able to destroy the evidence you were seeking. Do you know what I think? I think you're just trying to bully my brother and other allies of President Trump. You caused my brother and a lot of other Senators a lot of stress, and that makes me sick.”

She added:

“You should be ashamed of yourself. It's also a d*mn shame that you weaponized our legal system to do this, to go after a political opponent and his allies, including Lindsey. What a disgrace to our justice system and the Constitution that you would stoop this low. Shame on you.”

However, Graham’s remarks against Jack Smith backfired when he responded calmly, noting that Lindsey Graham was not the target of his investigation and calling him “a patriotic public servant.” He said that Graham would have been a witness for the prosecution. Smith said:

“No, I believe your brother was a patriotic public servant. He was not a target of our investigation. And in fact, he likely would have been a witness in our case. Your brother investigated the claims that Donald Trump was making. He found them to be false.”

According to a CNN report, Smith told senators that he continues to stand by his decision to prosecute the president. He repeatedly defended his team and stated that the investigation “developed proof beyond a reasonable doubt that President Trump engaged in serious crimes against our nation.”

Smith added that he would make the same choice to prosecute regardless of whether the president was a Republican or a Democrat.
