Elon Musk's name popped up in the Paramount-Warner Bros. deal this week, as The New York Post published a report stating as much. Fans were already disappointed this week when it was revealed this Monday that the Paramount-WBD deal was going ahead after the parties settled with the state AGs. Now, Musk's name popping up has just alienated people from this deal.

The NY Post report stated that David Ellison was seeking Musk's help for equity investment. This revelation has fans up in arms, as they were already not fans of the Ellisons, as they are close with the current US president. This deal, in the view of a lot of fans, is a way to enable right-wing political propaganda.

Elon Musk's possible involvement in the Paramount-Warner Bros. deal has only turned off fans:

The internet was already unhappy about the Paramount-Warner Bros. deal being given the green light this week. Elon Musk's possible involvement adds fuel to the unhappiness over the deal. The NY Post report stated that David Ellison was seeking wealthy investors, including the Tesla CEO. This update is the reason a fan described this news story as a "s**t show".

Based on these reactions, it is clear that people are not happy with Elon Musk being involved, and neither are they happy that the Ellisons got their way.

No one was expecting this deal to happen:

Variety published a report on Tuesday revealing that workers on both the Paramount and WBD sides were stunned by the settlement between the State AGs and the Ellisons. The Variety report pointed out that the state AGs ultimately did not demand anything from Paramount Skydance:

"So Monday’s announcement of the settlement between Paramount and the 12 state AGs was met with some disbelief — and a feeling by insiders at both companies that the states ultimately didn’t succeed in demanding much from Paramount Skydance, despite all their posturing. And, according to staffers on both sides, whether the reality of a merged Paramount-Warner Bros. has produced relief or anxiety “depends on where you sit.”"

Further reports even revealed that California Governor Gavin Newsom pushed state AG Rob Bonta into making the deal. Even though the resistance to the merger was stronger last month, it seems that Newsom gave in to David Ellison's threat to leave California. However, Ellison released a statement that he wasn't going anywhere for the next five years:

“Now that we reached and announced a settlement, we’re eager to get to work building a stronger Hollywood. Let me be clear: the newly merged company will be headquartered in Los Angeles.”
