Star Wars: Starfighter director Shawn Levy recently explained to Fandango correspondent Zuri Hall the reason behind casting Ryan Gosling in every movie. He described that his upcoming film materialized out of respect to the legacy of Star Wars and added that his team had planned to guide the franchise toward the future.

Levy further explained that Ryan Gosling is the ideal actor for every movie because he succeeds in every type, whether it is drama, comedy, romance or action. The director also revealed that Star Wars: Starfighter has every ingredient like romance, humor, drama and big action adventure and so he thought that Gosling would be a perfect fit.

Gosling stars as a human pilot Kade Auberon who ends up on the wrong side of the galaxy during the New Jedi Order Era. Their destiny was tied to the G17 Imperial Reaper known as the fastest starfighter ever built. Levy revealed that he immediately identified the chemistry between Flynn Gray and Gosling when he saw both of them in the same room.

In the interview, Star Wars: Starfighter's director opened up about why Ryan Gosling is the ideal choice for the film. He explained that Gosling's acting skill makes him fit perfectly in any genre.

According to him, Gosling's performance feels authentic and deeply human while also being entertaining, charming and humorous. He said,

"There's just very few actors who have the depth and the authenticity to be believable and real in every moment, but are also sort of gloriously entertaining and funny and charming."

Levy further pointed out that Star Wars: Starfighter has all elements from romance to large-scale action adventure and very few actors like Gosling can handle such variety with equal skill. The actor stands out because he can bring depth and honesty to every scene while maintaining a lightness that keeps audiences engaged.

Levy also described their collaboration as more than professional and called it an incredible brotherhood. He added that Gosling has a unique quality in his work approach. He can calmy work and lay back in confidence almost like an athlete who lets the game come to him. This relaxed style makes him perfect for the role.

Shawn Levy described the chemistry between Ryan Gosling and Flynn Gray as an effortless one. He said,

"I knew it when I met Flynn, but I really knew it when I had Flynn and Ryan in the room together because their chemistry was so effortless. And Flynn has that Gosling thing where he's not a lean inner."

Levy further mentioned that Flyn carries that Gosling quality where his presence is strong even without effort. Ryan and the newcomer Flynn are expected to show an incredible dynamic in the upcoming film Star Wars: Starfighter.

Ryan will play a gritty pilot Kade Auberon from the wrong side of the tracks and Flynn will reportedly portray a young character, possibly Kade's nephew or the child of Kade's late best friend. In the film, Kade has to safely escort Flynn's character to a hidden Jedi refuge planet called Adaria.
