The one-hour-and-twenty-nine-minute documentary covered the 2012 Costa Concordia cruise ship disaster that killed thirty-two people. After the investigation, authorities found Captain Francesco Schettino responsible for the tragedy. In the documentary, Taliaferro revealed that he was going to propose to Sandoval and had been planning this surprise for a while, as the journey had multiple romantic spots.Stefania Vincenzi: Stefania Vincenzi was a passenger on a cruise ship who went on the trip with her boyfriend, mother, and mother's best friend to celebrate her mother's birthday.Rose Metcalf: Rose Metcalf had been working as a dancer on the ship for four months. She described it as her dream job, saying she was in the best shape of her life, got to travel the world, and made great friends.Manrico Giampedroni: Manrico Giampedroni worked as a hotel manager at Costa Concordia and had been working with them for over four decades.Manoj Singh: Manoj Singh was a chef on the Costa Concordia. In Shipwrecked: Nightmare at Sea, he said he saw Captain Francesco Schettino get into a lifeboat and leave the ship. Singh also revealed that although he lost all of his savings in the tragedy, the experience taught him how valuable life truly is.Barbie Nadeau: Barbie Nadeau, a CNN Rome correspondent, shared her experience of arriving on Giglio Island to cover the news.Francesco Boaria: Francesco Boaria, a fire brigade diver who specialized in cave diving, entered the ship to search for survivors. He helped rescue Manrico Giampedroni, who was trapped inside the ship, and brought him out of the ship safely.Alessandro Cantelli-Forti: Alessandro Cantelli-Forti was a young computer science researcher at that time who investigated the black box. He helped reveal what happened inside the ship, including the failure of the emergency generator and the miscommunication between the captain and the helmsman.After the investigation, authorities found Costa Concordia captain Francesco Schettino guilty of manslaughter and abandoning the ship. Though he refused to accept the allegations against him.Schettino is currently behind bars in Rome after receiving a sixteen-year prison sentence for the Costa Concordia tragedy. While Shipwrecked: Nightmare at Sea features old footage and clips of him from the time, Schettino himself did not appear as an interviewee in the documentary.Schettino was not the only person to face consequences after the Costa Concordia disaster, as five other crew members were also held responsible.
