Sophia Bush has revealed that she has been secretly married to Ashlyn Harris for over a year.

In an exclusive interview with Vogue, Bush said the couple has been together since the fall of 2023. They tied the knot in a private ceremony in upstate New York in the summer of 2025. It is the third marriage for Bush, who was previously married to Grant Hughes and Chad Michael Murray.

This was Harris’ second marriage, as she was married to fellow professional soccer player Ali Krieger from 2019 until their divorce in 2023. She shares two adopted children, daughter Sloane and son Ocean.

Speaking with Vogue, Harris recalled their wedding day as "precious" and "zero pressure." The pair officially confirmed their relationship in April 2024, when Bush came out as queer in an essay published for Glamour magazine.

Sophia Bush is best known for playing Brooke Davis on One Tree Hill and for starring as Detective Erin Lindsay on the police procedural Chicago P.D.

Bush started dating her One Tree Hill co-star Chad Michael Murray while filming the series. They eventually got engaged in May 2004 and married on April 16, 2005, in Santa Monica, California. The marriage lasted about five months before they separated.

Bush filed for an annulment in February 2006, citing fraud, as per a report in Page Six. Her petition was denied, and the divorce was finalized in December 2006. They continued working together on the show for years afterward. Bush has later described them as “two stupid kids who had no business being in a relationship.”

According to a report in US Magazine, Sophia Bush was linked to her Stay Alive co-star, Jon Foster, from 2006 to 2007. They split but remained friends. Bush later noted that you can love someone without being in love.

Bush then dated another One Tree Hill co-star, James Lafferty, for a year before splitting in 2009. She was also linked to Austin Nichols. In the mid-2010s, Bush was reported to be dating Google program manager Dan Fredinburg and later Jesse Lee Soffer.

Around 2020, Sophia Bush came into a relationship with Grant Hughes. Before romance sparked between the couple, they had been friends for nearly a decade. They got married in June 2022 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. However, they finalized their separation after 13 months of marriage.

Sharing the news about her secret marriage with Vogue in a recent interview and in an excerpt from her forthcoming memoir And I Will Tell You Mine: Notes from a Life in Progress, Sophia Bush explained that after years of living much of her life in public, they wanted the wedding to “belong to us first.”

In a Zoom call with Vogue, Bush said:

“When you get to this stage in your life, you begin to unpack what’s yours and what’s always sort of been for everyone else.”

The intimate backyard wedding was attended by Harris’ children: Sloane (then about 5) and Ocean (about 4), with Bush’s best friend Nia Batts officiating their wedding. Bush wore a black velvet dress with gold flecks, and Harris wore a tuxedo.

Describing the love-filled air during their big day, Harris said:

“The kids were just running and happy, and we picked flowers from the property and our daughter Sloane was holding them. It was so fun for them, because it wasn’t this pressure-filled day that’s too much for young kids. It was so precious, and zero pressure. I will never forget it, and I think wedding days sometimes aren’t like that.”

Sophia Bush and her partner later traveled to tell their close friends and family to break the news of their nuptials. Bush noted that she stopped referring to Harris as her “partner” and instead called her “wife.”
