Spider-Man: Brand New Day merch could be a hint about Sadie Sink’s role and powers

One of Spider-Man: Brand New Day's biggest mysteries is the identity of Sadie Sink's role. The internet is filled with rumors suggesting that she is playing the "real" Mary Jane Watson, the "Spider Queen" Shathra, and most popular theory, Jean Grey/Marvel Girl. Based on the trailer, it is clear that either Sink's character or someone else has the power to control the mind.

Now, toy releases have only further added to the rumors that Sink is playing the fan-favorite X-Men character in Brand New Day. However, it is important to remember that her role has not been confirmed yet. We may learn in the next trailer or around the time Spider-Man: Brand New Day swings into the theaters this July.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day's rumored Jean Grey toy explained:

Photos of a toy from a character from Brand New Day leaked on X (formerly Twitter). It is a bag clip from a Target store, but there is no character description accompanying it. But many drew parallels between the figurine's clothes and set images of Sadie Sink in a jacket. But the most important detail of the figurine is that the character is surrounded by pink energy, something that's associated with the X-Men's Jean Grey in the comics.

This is not the only indication that Sink is playing Jean Grey in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. A promotional article on the Chinese website Sohu also described Sink's character as a shadowy figure whose loyalties are currently unclear. It seems that if she is indeed playing Jean Grey in Brand New Day, her backstory might be a bit different. That's because it seems that she is a DODC (United States Department of Damage Control) prisoner in the movie.

It wouldn't be surprising if Sadie Sink's character turns out to be Jean Grey in the movie, but as of now, it should be taken with a grain of salt. We will learn more only with the second trailer or when the movie releases next month. Therefore, as of now, we should consider her character unidentified.

What do we know about Brand New Day?

The movie is set four years after No Way Home, which ended with everyone forgetting that Peter Parker is Spider-Man. Now, the wall-crawler is a well-respected hero, but Peter Parker is at his lowest as he is all alone. MJ and Ned have moved on after graduating from MIT, while Peter is still Spider-Man. However, things take a turn for the worse as Peter might be undergoing a transformation. The official synopsis for the movie reads:
