While addressing the future of the wall-crawler Tom Holland he would like to see the mantle pass on to other characters as well after Spider-Man: Brand New Day, saying:“For whoever’s next, whether that is a Miles Morales or a Spider-Gwen or a Spider-Woman or something like that, I would love to be a part of setting up the next chapter. Whatever that looks like, I don’t know. But if I could do what Downey did for me, then I would be so content swinging off into the sunset.”Holland clearly sees Tony Stark's death in Avengers: Endgame as Robert Downey Jr. handing over the reigns of the MCU to other heroes including Spider-Man. Therefore, Holland dreams for doing the same for other Spider characters as well. However, there's a catch to this wish.As of now, Peter Parker is the only Spider-Man in the MCU. Both Gwen Stacy and Miles Morales have not been cast yet. And it should be noted that Peter is way too young. Spider-Man: Brand New Day is set four years after No Way Home. The storyline of Peter Parker retiring works only when he is a grown adult, who is a family man. However, there are some ways in which we can see Holland's version of Spider-Man exit the MCU:Peter's transformationThe Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer revealed that Peter's DNA might be mutating in the MCU. Therefore, the MCU has a chance to market Brand New Day, Avengers: Doomsday, and Avengers: Secret Wars as a "trilogy" for Spider-Man that would see Peter transform for the worse. By the end of Secret Wars, we could see Peter survive the ordeal or die. Some time later, we could also see another Spider-Man's origin.Peter's deathThe MCU can take a page from the ultimate universe (from the 2000s) and kill off Peter Parker. But this now defunct continuity from the early aughts remains significant to this day because Marvel incorporated Miles Morales into the mainline MCU universe from the Utimate Universe. The MCU can also bring an alternate version of Peter Parker if Marvel can't use Miles to replace Holland's Spider-Man.Clone SagaDespite its mockery, Clone Saga remains as one the most influential Spider-Man events to this day. Published in the 1990s, the saga is a continuation of an issue from the 1970s. In that original issue, Spider-Man battled his clone, who ended up dying. However, the premise of this 1990s saga is simple: the dead clone survived the battle, and he has an axe to grind against Peter. The initial idea was that the dead clone was the real Peter who has taken the name of "Ben Reilly", and he would take up the mantle of Spider-Man, while "Peter" would retire and live a happy life with MJ. That did not end up happening. Therefore, the MCU could end up doing something similar by the end of the the multiverse saga.Even Holland expressed desire to be involved in an adaptation of this unpopular storyline during the promotional campaign for Spider-Man: Homecoming:"It would be so cool...I could play seven characters. That means seven checks! And I like the idea of having characters in front of Spider-Man who have the same powers as him...It would make sense, because cloning is more or less coming true. It would make sense to talk about that. Like a villain who would say, 'This kid has super powers, I want twenty like him who fight for me. I'll take one of his hairs and try to clone him.' And obviously, it would go wrong!"Spider-Man: Brand New Day could plant the seeds for the MCU Peter Parker's replacement in one of the three ways mentioned above.Do you think that Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Avengers: Doomsday, and Avengers: Secret Wars form a part of a trilogy for the MCU's version of wall-crawler?
