SPOILER ALERT: This article discusses spoilers from Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Please don't proceed further if you are yet to watch the movie.Peter Parker is trying to figure out the changes his powers and body are experiencing in Brand New Day. The trailers have already suggested that Peter will struggle with his powers in the movie, and that plotline was clarified as the film released in theaters this week. A key storyline of the movie is Peter Parker trying to control these changes so that he can be in control of his powers. He creates a device to control his powers, which he uses on Sadie Sink's character in a pivotal moment in the second act of the movie. This moment has many Marvel fans theorizing that Spider-Man: Brand New Day has set up a key plot line for the upcoming phase of Marvel, i.e., the Mutant Saga.Spider-Man: Brand New Day - Peter may have created the mutant power-dampening collar:The Mutant Power Dampening collar in Deadpool 2 | Image Via: YouTube/20th Century StudiosPeter creates an inhibitor chip to stop his DNA from "mutating" (though the Brand New Day confirms that Peter is not a mutant as rumored). Parker does that after an interaction with Bruce Banner, who shows him his inhibitor device, which stops him from transforming into his Smart Hulk form. Parker miniaturizes the same technology in the form of a chip, and he attaches it on the back of his neck.He calls it the "universal inhibitor chip," as this chip can suppress the powers of all super-powered people, be it a general superhero or mutant. Peter tries using the same chip on the Savage Hulk in the fight but ends up using the same on Sadie Sink's Jean Grey as she is about to attack DODC director Bill Metzger. Many believe that the inhibitor chip Peter Parker created will give Bill Metzger the idea to create the inhibitor collar that will be powered by the chip Peter designed in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Metzger has disappeared by the end of the movie. Thus, he will definitely be a part of the MCU X-Men project, which will be directed by Jake Schreier. It should be noted that Bill Metzger could have access to not just one but two universal inhibitor chips, through which he could create the inhibitor collar, which will definitely be used to imprison the mutants. We saw what these collars look like in the prison portion of Deadpool 2.Spider-Man: Brand New Day is a key chapter in setting up the Mutant Saga: View this post on Instagram Instagram PostThe rumors that Sadie Sink was playing Jean Grey in the movie were true. By the end , we see her traveling to an unidentified location on a bus. Many think that the bus might be going to Westchester, the area where the X-Mansion is located in Marvel Comics. But we will learn about the MCU Jean Grey's whereabouts in Avengers: Secret Wars.Deadline reported last November that Sink was joining the cast of Secret Wars. But given who she is playing, it won't be surprising when we see Sadie Sink return as Jean Grey in Jake Schreier's X-Men project, along with Samara Weaving's Emma Frost. The solo X-Men movie will mostly release afrer Avengers: Secret Wars. Therefore, Sink will probably stick around the MCU even after next year's Avengers movie.Spider-Man: Brand New Day is currently playing in theaters across the world.
