Not many would know, but Spider-Man: Brand New Day is also one of the MCU's projects releasing this year. The wall-crawler's fourth movie is swinging into theaters across the world this July. Fans are excited for Brand New Day because it is the first Spider-Man movie in nearly five years, since 2021's Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Now, we finally have the official synopsis for the upcoming movie featuring the wall-crawler played by Tom Holland. The official synopsis also reveals how much time has passed between Brand New Day and the third MCU Spider-Man movie, No Way Home.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day - The Art Of The Movie reveals a time jump:

The Art of the Movie series contains behind-the-scenes factoids of different Marvel projects. Spider-Man: Brand New Day - The Art Of The Movie, published by Penguin Random House, will be released this August, just a few days after the movie's July release. The official website also revealed the official Spider-Man: Brand New Day synopsis for the movie, which specifies a four-year time jump from Spider-Man: No Way Home:

"Marvel Studios is proud to present the latest volume in its acclaimed Art of the Movie series as Spider-Man swings back onto the silver screen! Four years have gone by since we last caught up with our friendly neighborhood hero. Peter Parker is no more, but Spider-Man is at the top of his game keeping New York City safe. Things are going well for our anonymous hero until an unusual trail of crimes pulls him into a web of mystery larger than he’s ever faced before. In order to take on what’s ahead, Spider-Man not only needs to be at the top of his physical and mental game, but he must also be prepared to face the repercussions of his past! As Spider-Man: Brand New Day wows moviegoers the world over, discover the behind-the-scenes magic of the film’s visual development—from early concept sketches to final character designs. Explore environments, costumes, and exclusive insights from the next chapter for Marvel’s neighborhood hero!"

Based on this information, it seems that Peter Parker has no social life, thanks to Doctor Strange's spell from No Way Home. But simultaneously, Spider-Man seems to be doing the best job in protecting New York. However, a criminal conspiracy will push the wall-crawler to his limits. As that happens, his past will come back to haunt him. This might be the case because of Sadie Sink's mysterious character.

Who is Sadie Sink playing in Spider-Man: Brand New Day?

Stranger Things' Sadie Sink joined the cast of Brand New Day last March. Fan theories are circulating online that Sink is playing the X-Men mutant Marvel Girl/Jean Grey, while other theories suggest that she is playing the Spider-Man villain Shathra. However, nothing is confirmed as of now. Sink herself addressed the mysterious role in an Entertainment Weekly interview last November:

"People will just have to wait and see. I'm excited for all of it to maybe be put to rest."

Sadie Sink is not the only actor in the movie:

Apart from Sink, Spider-Man: Brand New Day also includes Mark Ruffalo and Jon Bernthal. Rumors suggest that the "Savage Hulk", i.e., the Hulk before Avengers: Endgame, will return in Brand New Day. But the most exciting inclusion is Frank Castle/The Punisher. Kevin Feige teased The Punisher's role in the movie last July:

“I think there’s a promise at the end of No Way Home, that for as sad as it is that Peter is forgotten by everyone in his life, we are seeing for the first time in the Tom Holland Spider-Man stories him being a proper Spider-Man. Him being by himself, dedicated to saving the city, and dealing with — for lack of better terms — street-level crime, as opposed to world-ending events. So when you do that, you say, okay, who are the other street-level characters that we’ve never seen him interact with? And of course, I love that The Punisher started in a Spider-Man comic. That great cover... I don’t want to say too much, but Destin — I will say too much — Destin is doing an amazing job right now on that movie, which starts shooting very soon. And he’s got eight or nine comic covers up on his wall in his art department that he is bringing to life in this movie, which is super cool.”

Spider-Man: Brand New Day will be theatrically released on July 31, 2026.
