Obsession filmmaker Curry Barker pointed out another subtle detail that no one discussed until now. The young director sat down for an interview with Movie TV News, in which he discussed the acclaimed horror movie headlined by Inde Navarrette and Michael Johnston. While the movie has been dissected in multiple ways ever since its release, Barker even pointed out a new hidden detail. The scene in question arrives in the first half of the movie as Bear opens his lunchbox. We see two photographs inside it: One is Bear's photograph labeled "You," and the other is Nikki's, which is labeled "Not Me." Barker went on to reveal something about Bear's photograph that had never been brought up in discussions of Obsession. The young filmmaker said that Bear's photograph was taken from the ceiling:"When you look at the one that says "You", and it's a picture of Bear, the picture is taken from the perspective of a ceiling. The only way she could have taken that picture is if she was on the ceiling."When the interviewer was impressed with this revelation, Barker went on to say:"I thought it would be creepy if she somehow got onto the ceiling to take it. So who knows what she did?"This revelation only fleshes out how much Bear's wish changed Nikki in Obsession: View this post on Instagram Instagram PostBear wishes that Nikki Freeman would love him more than anyone in the world very early in the movie. The idea that Nikki even climbed up the wall to take a photograph shows how Bear ruined Nikki's life with his wish. Throughout Obsession, we see Nikki acting as if she were possessed (which she is) by the magic of the One Wish Willow. The fact that Nikki managed to climb up the wall just to take a picture of Bear makes the young man's wish even darker. The filmmaker also revealed that Inde Navarrette pulled off a chilling scene in one takeGetty Images Portrait Studio Presented By IMDb And IMDbPro At The Intercontinental Hotel Toronto, 2026 - Source: GettyBarker also praised actress Inde Navarrette for her performance in the scene in which Nikki experiences a breakdown in the corner of the bedroom. Barker revealed that Navarrette asked him not to give her any instructions while filming one of the disturbing scenes from Obsession:“I remember when she’s in the corner in the bedroom and she’s going, I don’t like my dreams and all that stuff, I talked to her a lot about what that was. She went in and I was like, ‘Okay, so we’re gonna…’ She's like, ‘Don't say a word. Just let me do it.’ And I was like, ‘okay,’ because I think she had already heard my spiel over and over again. And I think she just didn’t want to hear it again when she was in the corner about to do it.”The filmmaker further revealed that this scene was shot in one take:“She literally did it in one take, which is the case for a lot of her stuff in this movie. But she did this like creepy, weird, whiny, she knew what I wanted by then that this was actually reshoots. This was almost seven months later. And so she had done the whole—she’d shot the whole movie by now."He continued:"And so she came in, she did the whiny thing. And I was like, okay, cut. And she went back to her green room because I was like, Oh, we don't need to do it again.”Obsession is currently accessible via streaming on Peacock.
