Michael Jordan was recently seen interacting with a young boy at the NASCAR Daytona. The way he did so, touching the child on his leg and so on, has been called inappropriate and triggered debates on the internet, with netizens taking to social media to express their views on the matter.

Some called Jordan's behaviour disgusting and reacted negatively to it. Others were more forgiving of the incident. An X user stated:

"That’s absolutely disgusting. Doesn’t matter how close they are. That immoral."

A netizen reacted:

"People are so quick to run with a clip without context. From what I’ve seen, it looked like a normal interaction with a young fan. Social media loves outrage more than facts. Let’s get the full story before dragging a legend."

Another netizen reacted:

"Yikes. I seriously doubt he intended to seem creepy, but in the current climate following the release of the Epstein files, perhaps all famous people should stand 6 feet away from children who aren’t their own. We are in a very dark place right now."

One commenter reacted:

"I can’t think of a single scenario where this is okay. Not even one."

One reactor said:

"WTF is Michael Jordan doing to that kid after the Daytona win? I love MJ, but this has me shook."

Another reactor opined:

"Little dude got soaked with beer and drinks ice down shirt. Is only explanation I can think of by the look of the shirt. I just never seen MJ weird like that, so I'm thinking more to it."

The incident occurred at the Daytona 500 race, where Tyler Reddick won. Reddick and Jordan have been close associates for a while now, with Reddick racing on behalf of 23XI, which is co-owned by Michael Jordan and Denny Hamlin.

Neither Denny Hamlin nor Michael Jordan has commented on the incident as of the writing of this article. There also not been any comments from NASCAR as of the writing of this article.

Michael Jordan has owned a NASCAR team since 2020

Michael Jordan and Denny Hamlin have owned the NASCAR Team 23XI since 2020, when they established it in September of that year. The team was guaranteed a spot on the NASCAR races in 2021 by the purchase of a charter from the Germain Racing stock team, owned by the Germain family. The team ran Toyota racing cars, through their alliance with Joe Gibbs Racing, in 2021.

The team made the news in 2024 for their antitrust lawsuit against NASCAR and the owners of the said family, the France family. The antitrust lawsuit was over the update of the charter agreement by NASCAR and other allegedly anti-competitive practices. The lawsuit was made in collaboration with Front Row Motorsports and ultimately resulted in a settlement in December 2025.

Michael Jordan is also the co-owner of a car company, as well as being the primary investor for a golf course in Florida. The retired NBA player has also invested in the gambling company DraftKings. He has also recently been included on the NBA on NBC commentary team as a special contributor. Jordan is also known for appearing in TV shows and Films, such as the mini-series The Captain, and the film Space Jam.
