This calculation proves how massive the Marvel Cinematic Universe has become ahead of the film's December 18 launch. The long runtime has also sparked new interest in shorter catch-up lists and selective rewatch guides that help viewers prepare without going through the entire franchise.

If viewers want to watch Avengers: Doomsday and connect every detail, they will have to begin with Iron Man (2008). During that era, Netflix had not completed 18 months of its streaming service and Instagram was still two years away when Tony Stark built a suit inside a cave. It was clearly a different era.

But now the MCU has grown into one of the largest entertainment production company with 38 movies and more than 20 TV shows. A viewer needs more than 330 continuous watch hours to grasp and connect every detail, hidden reference, character arc and storyline with the upcoming Avengers movie.
